| We Were Gentlemen sign with Century Media |

Rarely does an unsigned band create as much noise as Virginia Beach’s WE WERE GENTLEMEN. The band, which formed in 2005, has quickly ascended to the top of the underground due to playing alongside such heavyweights as Converge, A Life Once Lost, The Red Chord and Suicide Silence. Now they are ready to make their name known to the world and Century Media Records is extremely excited to announce the signing of WE WERE GENTLEMEN to the label’s worldwide roster.
When WE WERE GENTLEMEN decided to take the band to the next level, co-founders Kalan Blehm and Richard Nuepert went out and financed a van and trailer and began booking tours up and down the east coast with bands such as My Bitter End (Uprising Records), Cassius (Lifeforce Records), and ABACABB (Summerian Records). Since this time, the band has exploded in popularity, having amassed over 45,000 friends and 500,000 plays on MySpace. All of this buzz lead to Century Media Records taking notice and partnering with the band. Now, WE WERE GENTLEMEN is preparing to enter Planet Red Studios in Richmond, VA on November 16th to begin recording their Century Media debut. The album, entitled Living Hell, will be recorded by the acclaimed Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder, Haste The Day) and is tentatively scheduled for a Spring 2009 release. The band comments: "We are extremely proud and excited to be a part of a respected label such as Century Media Records. To be on a roster along side of bands like Suicide Silence, God Forbid, In This Moment, Terror and Earth Crisis (just to name a few) is a real honor. We feel as though Century Media Records is the best home for WE WERE GENTLEMEN, and we couldn't be happier with the dedication, commitment, and professionalism Ray Harkins and everyone else over at Century Media has shown us thus far. We would like to thank Ray Harkins from Century Media and our lawyer Adam Mandell for having the patience and believing in this project throughout the whole process. We would also like to thank all of our friends and fans who have supported and stuck with us throughout the years. On November 16th, we will be entering Planet Red Studios in Richmond, VA to record our debut full-length entitled Living Hell with producer/engineer Andreas Magnusson. Living Hell will be in stores in early spring, so be on the look out! We can't wait for everyone to hear our new material and to get out on the road in the New Year. Stay tuned to our MySpace for studio updates, new songs, and tour dates!"

IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, the electro/metal/jazz/grind hybrid from Shreveport, LA, has entered the studio to record their debut full length for Century Media Records. The band has locked themselves inside the home of producer extraordinaire Ross Robinson and are working with Ryan Boesch (Norma Jean). The album is expected to be ready for a spring 2009 release.
IWRESTLEDABEARONCE comments: “Ryan Boesch is a son of a bitch and a dirty, godless savage... but on the bright side, we are writing and recording on the beach at Ross Robinson's house and drinking all of Norma Jean's leftover energy drinks. Anyway, Ryan is as insane as us and since his discography includes 2Pac, Andrew WK, Tomahawk, and Sheryl Crow, we know we are in good hands. We will be updating our MySpace with all kinds of stupid news, so keep in touch on there for all of the latest! Our drummer has horrific gas.” Best known for their spastic take on grindcore, metal and even showtunes, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE is as hard to categorize as that particular melding would suggest. One look at the new video for "Tastes Like Kevin Bacon," which encapsulates that twist particularly well, and you'll know what the band is all about. For additional information or to view the much talked about "Tastes Like Kevin Bacon" video head over to the bands official Myspace page by clicking below. Stay tuned over the coming weeks for video updates from the studio.

Ob(Servant), the fourth album from Tasmanian tech-death masters PSYCROPTIC, has entered the AIR chart (Australian Independent Recordings) at position No. 7.
The AIR charts are compiled by AIR from sales rankings supplied by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). Titles are eligible to be included in the AIR charts survey if: - The artists are Australian; - The title is released on an independent label or self-released; - Where it is either distributed through an independent distributor or where an independent label uses the services of a major or its subsidiary to distribute the title Commented PSYCROPTIC drummer Dave Haley: "I just heard that our new album Ob(servant) hit number no. 7 on the AIR charts out here in Australia. I actually had to have a bit of a giggle about that — a death metal album filled with blast beats and growling vocals sitting next to a lot of pop and rap stuff. It's great indication of the state of extreme metal at the moment — it has a growing and dedicated following... good times to be a metal band!" Ob(Servant) (CD+DVD) was released in North America on October 14 via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was mixed and mastered by former MACHINE HEAD and SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader (DIVINE HERESY, GOJIRA) and was recorded once again by guitarist Joe Haley. Ob(Servant) includes a free bonus DVD featuring a studio diary as well as performance footage from a 2006 gig in Amsterdam, Netherlands and 2008 concert in Wellington, New Zealand. The free bonus DVD runs approximately 85 minutes.
| Enslaved shoot new video |
2008-11-19

|
Norway’s ENSLAVED recently traveled to Gothenburg, Sweden to work with Revolver Film Company director and Norwegian Grammy Award winner Patric Ullaeus (Dimmu Borgir, Keep Of Kalessin, In Flames) to shoot a video for “The Watcher,” a track off their recently Billboard-charting album, Vertebrae.
ENSLAVED share their thoughts about working with Ullaeus and the video itself: “When we got the chance to work with Patric and Revolver, we grasped it with all ten hands. His works are very impressive. We were first exposed to him through Dimmu Borgir’s latest video - the whole thing was very professional and remained ‘tasty’ within the fantasy framework. Our previous videos have been do-it-yourself and we have never worked with special effects on such a high level before. The video is built upon a dual development: the band performing the song in parallel with a story line. The story is based upon [lead singer/bassist] Grutle’s lyrics for ‘The Watcher’ and the story is written out in a co-operation between Grutle & [guitarist/songwriter] Ivar [Bjørnson] from the band, and director Patric Ullaeus. Without spoiling the surprise, the video story follows the lines of the lyrics – the individual’s struggle for truth and liberation, about revealing the real chains of existence and breaking them.”

Sweden's THIS ENDING – featuring AMON AMARTH drummer Fredrik Andersson – have finished the recordings for their second album 'Dead Harvest'!
THIS ENDING continue to deliver their own brand of Death Metal in grand fashion with 'Dead Harvest', evolving a dark concept and further distinguishing the band from it's contemporary peers. Spanning from heavy riffs and mesmerizing melodies to blast beats and industrial sounds - 'Dead Harvest' has it all. The recording of 'Dead Harvest' saw THIS ENDING returning to Offbeat Studio, and after 2 months of gruelling work the recording was finally done. Numerous songs were written but only 10 songs were chosen to be represented on the actual album. However 2 more songs were recorded during the 'Dead Harvest' sessions, which are to be released on the limited first printing of the European edition. Plans were also set in motion to create a video for the track 'Parasites' from 'Dead Harvest'. The song represents the THIS ENDING sound well, showing off the band's broad spectrum. The video was shot at two different locations during two days. More details on the video shoot to follow. Here's what guitarist Leo Pignon has to say about the new album 'Dead Harvest': "The second creation of THIS ENDING plunges you further into the darkness of mankind. Here you will find everything from spellbinding melodies to violent blast-beats, all spawned from the maw of the inevitable doomsday-machine that is THIS ENDING. 'Dead Harvest' is the soundtrack of a world in downfall, steeped in true death metal and branded with the unique sound of THIS ENDING. So crank up the volume, sit back, and watch the World go down in flames!" THIS ENDING is: Mårten Hansen - vocals Leo Pignon - guitar Linus Nirbrant - guitar Jesper Löfgren - bass Fredrik Andersson – drums Tracklisting 'Dead Harvest': 1. Trace of Sin 2. Parasites 3. | Eudaimony sign with Lupus Lounge |
2008-11-18
|
|
Eudaimony is the new band of Matthias Jell (ex-Dark Fortress), Marcus E. Norman (Naglfar, Bewitched), Jörg Heemann (Secrets Of The Moon), and Michael Håkansson (ex-Evergrey, ex-The Forsaken). Following their dictum 'Negativity in its purest form', this quartet combines doomy, disharmonic music with lyrics from the downbeat and hopeless side of life. You can listen to some of Eudaimony’s rehearsal tracks here: www.myspace.com/eudaimony
Not only are Lupus Lounge very glad to have such a visionary group with high-profile members on their roster, Eudaimony are also satisfied about the proceedings: "We are very proud to announce that the contract is signed at last, and we are convinced that Lupus Lounge / Prophecy Productions are just the partners we need to realise our artistic ideals. We believe that the ethos of Lupus Lounge / Prophecy Productions is very close to that of Eudaimony, as boundless artistic freedom beyond any categorisations is essential for Eudaimony as well. We will start recording our debut album entitled 'Futile' during 2009. 'Futile' is bound to be an interesting record for anyone willing to experience music that transcends the limitations of today's rather superficial and image-conscious genre. 'Easy listening' is something you'll never find in Eudaimony."
| Negura Bunget re-releases |
2008-11-18
|
|
Negura Bunget's first four releases will soon be re-issued in Digipaks with improved artwork."From Transylvanian Forest" is the only demo recording from Wiccan Rede, the legendary precursors to Negura Bunget. This re-release with two bonus tracks lays bare the roots of Negura Bunget in an unique way. On their debut album "Zîrnindu-Sã", the Romanians celebrate a furious and primal black metal with sophisticated drumming and racing guitars. For many fans, this record still marks the band's pinnacle. The re-release comes with a bonus CD featuring a previously unreleased alternative recording of the entire album. The potential hinted at on these releases was fully tapped on the EP "Sala Molksa". "Sala Molksa" offers highly original symphonic black metal with a penchant for complex arrangements. This re-release comes with a bonus CD as well, containing an unreleased alternative recording of the EP. "Mãiastru Sfetnic", finally, is the masterpiece by the 'early' Negura Bunget, written large in the history of black metal. This album is characterized by a stunningly dense and oppressive atmosphere and has secured the band a position in the pantheon of black metal.
All of these Digipak CDs are limited to 2,000 copies each. There will also be a special 6 CD box, strictly limited to 500 copies, including a woven Negura Bunget logo patch and a sticker.

Both Malefice and Metal Blade want nothing but the best for our genre, and together, we feel we can put honest heavy music, back to the top where it belongs." Florida based metal outfit X-THIRTIEN has signed on with CHAVIS RECORDS for their debut release 'YOU'RE NEXT'. X-THIRTIEN is comprised of U.S. and European based musicians featuring Joe Russell, Johnny Osborn, Rollie Feldman, Mathias Lang, Tracy Ferrell, and Erik Zvanut.
2 years in the making, 'YOU'RE NEXT' is a concept album that tells the saga of good versus evil, a man transformed into superman, in conjunction with a band transformed into a super band. This is a breakthrough concept for the "fan loyal" New Rock genre. Passionate, powerful lyrics are placed inside the thick, heavy sound of X-THIRTIEN. Intense meaning alongside the grooves and riffs certainly becomes cathartic to listeners and fans all alike. The CD was recorded at Third Stone Studios in L.A., produced by Dana and Justin Walden (Sevendust), Mudrock (Godsmack) with the help of world famous Toby Wright (the man behind some of the biggest bands in the business, including Metallica, Alice n Chains and Tantric). Mixing the project to perfection, James Murphy who has done work for Nuclear Blast, Century Media, Roadrunner, Candle Light, Metal Blade, a talented producer/engineer, known for creating intense mixes and massive sounds throughout the record industry. X-THIRTIEN is taking the album concept and transforming it into a full stage production and heading out on the road bringing the show to the fans. The demand for the band continues to increase. X-THIRTIEN tour dates will begin in 09 throughout the States and may also include shows in Canada, Europe, Japan, South America and Australia. TELL THE WORLD: X-THIRTIEN, 'YOU'RE NEXT' is a definitive concept CD that includes standout songs from the new release such as RUN, FREAK and LET'S GO CRAZY, featuring the title track 'YOU'RE NEXT' as well as additional break-through material. X-THIRTIEN perfected its trademark 'X' with a mix of guitar heroics, anthemic hooks and hedonistic attitude while playing live shows out on tour. X-THIRTIEN will be together and out on the road, which is exactly where they want to be. Beware of the 'YOU'RE NEXT' 'X' attack in 2009!
