Sonne Adam sign with Century Media
2011-02-21
Century Media Records proudly announce the worldwide signing of Israel-based old school death metal band SONNE ADAM, who will unleash their stunning debut album “Transformation” on April 4, 2011 in Europe.

Jens Prueter (Head Of A&R, Century Media Records Europe): “Back in 1991, Century Media Records released the groundbreaking debut albums by Asphyx, Grave, Morgoth and Unleashed as well as the second album of Tiamat. It was the year death metal changed the metal world and thousands of bands were founded in garages around the world. 20 years later we are proud to sign a young band from Tel Aviv, Israel that knows the meaning of death unfortunately better than most of us. SONNE ADAM mix the old doom/death of early Paradise Lost and technical insanity of early Morbid Angel with a fresh passion and raw energy that reminds me of the hunger and dedication I heard in the aforementioned debut albums 20 years ago, without sounding retro. Welcome to a new chapter of Century Media Death Metal!”

The history of SONNE ADAM (which roughly translates into “hate humanity” in Hebrew) dates back to 2007 when a young Israeli duo consisting of Davidov (all instruments) and Dahan (vocals) started a musical project to create “death metal in the vein of early PARADISE LOST but with a more shamelessly evil and blasphemous touch and some MORBID ANGEL thrown in the mix”. Plain and simple.

The band’s first recording was an EP named “The Sun Is Dead” (which so far remains unreleased) followed by another EP named “Armed With Hammers” which caught the attention of underground label Imperium Productions from Germany who subsequently released it on 7” vinyl in 2010. The resulting underground buzz within the deepest depths of forums and fanzines mounted in the renowned German Rock Hard magazine even awarding it the title “demo of the month” and predicting the band to become a hot topic among all death metal maniacs.

Seeing SONNE ADAM developing into an amazing, highly promising underground act, Century Media Records picked them up for the release of the band’s debut album “Transformation” in cooperation with Imperium Productions who will handle the album’s vinyl version. The band itself never thought about ending up on such a big label as Davidov states: “We didn't imagine that we will receive so much attention when we wrote the album a year and a half ago, when the "Armed With Hammers" EP wasn't even released yet. Hell, we didn't even know back than how strong the old school death metal scene will be again. We never were "label hunters" so it was a big surprise. Actually, being from Israel and signing to a big label is more crucial than you think as we are very isolated from our crowd. No matter what, our heart is in the underground. Always was and always will be! If someone thinks that we are selling out he can go f**k himself. We are very pleased with signing with Century Media.”

The cornerstones of SONNE ADAM’s sound are heavy, downtuned, diverse and all-consuming lava-esque riffs, unholy, triumphant vocals, thundering drums and a song-writing filled to the brim with fascinating twist and turns. Combined with metaphorical, dark and blasphemous lyrics “Transformation” ultimately stands out from the mass as an authentic, occult and earnest metal opus that leaves nothing to desire and should find many new supporters among extreme metalheads worldwide. It’s an album that propagates originality implying respect for the original precursors and creative ingenuity in equal measure. It’s damn great dark death metal, plain and simple…

Benediction confirmed for Obscene Extreme
2011-02-21
Absolute titans of crushing, primordial death metal, Birmingham's BENEDICTION may be overshadowed by other bands at home (you don't need to be told which ones), but on stage they're without peer.

Over two decades on from their inception, despite some absolutely seminal albums, they may not have been the most prolific outfit when it comes to recording, but 2008's 'ORGANISED CHAOS', their first full-length since 2001, put them right back at the top of European death metal barbarity, with ANAAL NATHRAKH vocalist Dave HUNT's wind-tunnel roar and crashing, rock-fall riffs.

Primitive, crust-laced death metal from a pantheon of classic death metal and grindcore bands, Brum's self-proclaimed Grind Bastards are going to be more than at home amid the chaos of OBSCENE EXTREME 2011!!!

OvO sign with Supernatural Cat
2011-02-21
Supernatural Cat Records have signed avant/extreme duo OvO for their upcoming sixth album Cor Cordium, which will be released on April 18th, 2011. To give the public their first taste of the release, UK-based Rock-A-Rolla Magazine is hosting an exclusive stream of "Marie," the third track from Cor Cordium.

The diverse, avant/conceptual ten-track opus Cor Cordium -- the title translating to "heart of the hearts" -- is an epitaph to the memory of idolized English Romantic poet and adventurer Percy Shelley. OvO hail from a realm of contaminated heavy rock, where noise elements act as breaks between the sonic deconstructive assaults as displayed on Cor Cordium. The hi-fi recordings captured on the album, for the first time in OvO's history utilizing any sort of overdubs, present a rational structure hidden under the apparent madness of the compositions.

Cor Cordium is set for release via Supernatural Cat Records -- the label who've delivered releases from Lento, Morkobot, Incoming Cerebral Overdrive, and most notably, doom trio Ufomammut -- and who also co-handle the duties at Malleus Art Rock Lab. In addition to the standard digipak version and digital download, there will also be a highly limited edition which will include both CD and LP versions as well as a DVD featuring a live concert of the band previous their previous album Crocevia.

With previous releases being handled by labels such as Bar La Muerte, Blossoming Noise and Load Records, and the duo having played somewhere in the vicinity of 600 shows since their inception at the turn of the century, OvO's travels have taken them from Europe to Mexico, from America to Israel, and beyond. OvO have collaborated, recorded and/or played live with countless notable acts including Nadja, KK Null, Thurston Moore, Jim O’Rourke, Rollerball, Thrones, SubArachnoid Space, Zenigeva, Lightning Bolt, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Estradasphere, Steve Mc Kay, Trencher, Ludicra, Bill Horist, USA Is A Monster, White Mice, Cock ESP, Bastard Noise, Zu, Larsen, Kill Me Tomorrow, Murder Junkies, Jarboe, A Hawk And A Hacksaw and more.

The Facelss re-sign with Sumerian Records
2011-02-19
Sumerian Records is extremely proud to announce the re-signing of their flagship artist, Los Angeles based progressive death metal titans THE FACELESS, who are close to completing the writing process for their much anticipated third full-length release. The group will enter guitarist's Michael Keene's studio in March to begin tracking the new effort and they will be documenting the entire process via a series of webisodes, so keep an eye out for the debut episode this March at www.facebook.com/thefaceless.

THE FACELESS are scheduled to headline the Sumerian showcase at SXSW at Emo's Annex on March 16th with Veil of Maya, Animals As Leaders and Upon A Burning Body rounding out the bill. If you are in the Austin, TX area this is one show that's not to be missed. The band will also perform a number of dates with Animals As Leaders around this showcase, please visit The Faceless on Facebook for the entire schedule.

Sumerian Records Creator Ash Avildsen states: "Of every signing in the history of Sumerian Records, I feel the re-signing of THE FACELESS is the most symbolic and monumental of all. Back in 2006 when I stopped touring, I was living in a one bedroom Venice Beach apartment as an aspiring but struggling DIY booking agent trying to pay the bills. With a dream of having a record label built upon the spirit of family and perseverance and comprised of a heavy, cutting edge roster, I set out to find the perfect first band. I could not have chosen a better group than THE FACELESS to begin the story of Sumerian Records. With no office or staff, just sheer determination and a vision, we shook hands and decided let's show the business what the little guys can do together with all the odds against us.THE FACELESS have undoubtedly become an influential, timeless, progressive metal act that continues to evolve before the world's eyes. Now with their songwriting at an all time high and their forward thinking approach to music showing no signs of slowing down, I believe 2011 will be the biggest year THE FACELESS has ever seen and I am very grateful to be a part of it."

Keene further comments: “After five years and two successful albums we've decided to sign on with the sphinx-obsessed, record-pedaling Sumerian Records for some more! We've worked together from the start of both of our respective careers and have grown together the whole way. That brings me to the question, if it ain’t broke, why fix it? There is no doubt that Sumerian has been there for us time and time again when we've needed them and they continue to grow and expand as a label every day. I'm very confident in their work for us and am proud to not only call everyone at Sumerian our business partners, but also our great friends. This next record is going to be the most musical and progressive record we've made."

Forté reissue on Divebomb Records
2011-02-18
FORTÉ was founded in Oklahoma City in 1987 by brothers Jeff and Greg Scott and were in time joined by bassist Ghames “Rev” Jones and ex-Oliver Magnum vocalist, James Randel. In the early stages FORTÉ played an abundant of shows quickly establishing themselves within the flourishing underground metal scene by opening for bands like Pantera, Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Watchtower, Overkill, Savatage and Trouble.

After spending time on the road hammering out and fine tuning everything they recorded and released their (now) classic Dementia By Design demo tape in 1989. It was both fan and critic favorite and their popularity began to spread worldwide as it went on to sell a stunning 1,500 copies. The demo’s title track was even featured on Metal Blade Records’ Metal Massacre series giving the band even more exposure which they certainly used to their advantage. Not wanting to slow the building momentum they delivered an impressive showcase at the Foundations Forum. Germany’s Massacre Records was in attendance and quickly signed FORTÉ to their first recording contract.

Their debut, Stranger Than Fiction, was released in 1992 stunning both critics and their ever expanding fan base with its intensity, speed, power and excellent use of melody. Stranger Than Fiction has been unavailable for years and with the line-up back together and prepping a new album for release in 2011 we decided it was time to re-release this classic slab of melodic/power/thrash metal. Working in conjunction with the band we were able to unearth two original FORTÉ demo tapes for inclusion on this new deluxe edition to make it the most comprehensive collection of their early years and it will be released to stores on March 15th, 2011.

FOR FANS OF:
METALLICA, VICIOUS RUMORS, TESTAMENT and HELSTAR and melodic thrash metal

Therion have their own boardgame
2011-02-18
Swedes THERION have now been immortalised in a boardgame!

Mainman Christofer Johnsson comments: „Paulo Vallerga from the famous game developer Scibabs approached the band at the show in Milano last year with this great idea of making a fantasy board game based upon the stage characters mixed with mythology, and we instantly thought it was the coolest thing we've heard in ages and loved the idea!
The name of the game is „011“ and you will find me, Thomas, Christian, Johan, Snowy, Katarina, Lori and Nalley appearing as even more fantastic characters than we are in reality! ; -)“

There will be more news on this coming soon!

The Arusha Accord re-sign with Basick Records
2011-02-18
BASICK RECORDS are extremely pleased to announce the re-signing of one the UK's most forward thinking technical Metal bands, THE ARUSHA ACCORD!

The deal will see a worldwide re-release of the bands debut album 'The Echo Verses' as a 2-disc digipack collectors edition on April 18th 2011, which will be bundled with the bands original debut 'Nightmares Of The Ocean' EP, along with exclusive videos, photos and multimedia content, as well as much sought after guitar/bass and drum tabs to each of the bands songs.

The band are also currently working hard at writing for their follow up record, also due to be released with Basick in the not-so-distant future.

Paul Green, vocalist with the band comments:

"We're absolutely stoked to be announcing our re-signing with Basick!
Its great to be back home where it all started for us, the collective of bands & label ethic here is truly rare and one we're proud to be part of again!

We're equally as ecstatic about this release, a celebration of coming home and also a milestone that will see us move on from TEV.
Everyones been working their absolute tits off getting the tabs, content, artwork & website ready for this and it feels great to now let you in on what we've been doing. It's also great to be getting TEV & NOTO into stores across the world, something that really had been missing for us and of course, you guys! With all the tabs for TEV now there for you guys, let's see how you get on trying to learn those bastards ;)
This release truly means the end to a chapter for the band... We've learnt a hell of a lot about our sound and what we want from music over these past 2 years...
As you know we're working on a new record; the guys have been throwing stuff back and forth to each other and i can assure you, it's incredible! We have always aimed to push the boundaries with our sound, and the new material is even more beautiful and as disgusting as anything we have written to date. I think its too early for us to give anything away but we are dipping back into our roots and also looking at new areas for inspiration... Lets hope we can finish this as well as we've started! ;)"

Zerozonic reveal new album details
2011-02-18
The Norwegian Groove Metal band ZEROZONIC has just set the release date for their album "God Damn, Better, Best" at March 11, 2011.

The band will release their album through MAYHEM MUSIC - the record label from Audun Grønnestad ( known from Imperia a.o. ) - who have set a worldwide distribution deal with Indie Distribution.

Known from more extreme bands like Satyricon as their live guitarist between 1996 – 1999 and still in the Norwegian Death Metal band, BloodRedThrone, Daniel "Peisy" Olaisen finally wanted to perform his long time passion for groove metal and formed ZEROZONIC in 2004. Singer, Leo Morachiolli (Lowdown) joined forces early on and still remains in the band. Both bass player and drummer from Tristania and Green Carnation was a part of Zerozonic and recorded the two first albums before leaving the band. Today, Jon Eirik "Elt" Bokn from the great Thrash metal band, Dead Trooper, handles the drums and Martin Berger pumps the bass guitar!

The music is as groovy as it gets and bands like Pantera, Chimaira and Metallica has been inspirators. What makes Zerozonic different is definitely the singer. He brings the most crazy sounds and creativity to the songs!

In December 2010, their second CD, God Damn, Better, Best was released through Ozo Records, and the album has now been picked up for international distribution through MayhemMusic and Indie Distribution.

The band is revealing the cover artwork for "GOD DAMN, BETTER, BEST" with the complete tracklisting :

2. Symptoms
3. Humane
4. Enter Night And Day
5. Live Today
6. No Tomorrow

Circles sign with Basick Records
2011-02-18
BASICK RECORDS is extremely excited to announce the signing of Australia’s finest, CIRCLES!

Mixing up cutting edge production techniques with some altogether killer guitar work, CIRCLES instantly stand out from the Metal-by-numbers crowd with their, quite frankly, sublime song-craft and incredible vocal delivery.

Set for release via BASICK in Spring 2011, the band’s debut 6-track EP ‘The Compass’, combines musical influences from technically minded bands such as Periphery and Textures, whilst simultaneously drawing lyrical and vocal comparisons to the early works of Incubus and Faith No More.

David Hunter, drummer with the band comments: "We are stoked to be working with Basick Records and to be receiving such a positive international response. Our debut EP ‘The Compass’ has been along time in the making and we are really excited to get it out there and to hear the reactions. Work on the first album has already begun and is coming along really well for such early stages. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us up until this point and we promise the best is yet to come!"

Kromlek reveal new album details
2011-02-17
The German Pagan/Black Metal band KROMLEK has just set the release date for their upcoming album "Finis Terræ" at April 8, 2011. The band will release their new album through SMP/TROLLZORN RECORDS.

" The Maya were terribly wrong! The end of the world will befall us in 2011 – in fact by the concentrated impact of a 13 headed hydra. The most diversified band of the pagan metal sector sounds apocalyptical fanfares for the cardinal onslaught against convention and genre-sullenness. The congenial sextet around polarizer and ideologist-in-chief mr alphavarg presents an album of variety and complexity that is simply unique and incomparable.

All powers of the forerunner album „Sr?dt“ have not been simply cultivated but pitchforked into higher spheres. Genre borders will be overrun and every sceptic will be forced to devotional hush by an overwhelming caleidoscope of epic melodies, bombastic moments and impressive profound and plurivalent lyrics about the forthcoming end of the world.

With his concept mr alphavarg reveals a real superlative of his previous work. Beside the traditional languages used – namely German, English and Swedish – there are ground-breaking pamphlets in Sanskrit, Latin, Arabian and many more. Furthermore, for two songs the six apocalyptival horseriders are accompanied by famous supporters.

World-exclusively for “Finis Terræ” Mark and Joris of Heidevolk sing in German for the very first time! Moreover Equilibrium’s mastermind, René Berthiaume, participates as vocalist for the first time as well. More aggressive, more melodic and harder than ever before this album definitely proves the potential to enthuse and inspire listeners all over the world and far beyond the pagan metal genre? “Finis Terræ” is really an end time soundtrack you just have to call your own!!!"

The band is revealing now for the very first time the cover artwork for "Finis Terræ" with the complete tracklisting :

TRACK LIST :
01. Iron Age Prelude
02. Nekropolis’ Fall
03. Angrlióð
04. The Cocoon
05. Mantikor
06. Manjushri aus mir
07. Moritvrvs immortalis
08. Ad Rvbiconem
09. Bastion
10. Creation’s Crowning Glory
11. Metropolitan Roots
12. Egophaneia
13. Finis Terræ

mr alphavarg – vocals
NhéVanN – guitars

Mutilation Rites announce new release
2011-02-17
Brooklyn-based black metallers MUTILATION RITES have been furiously busy doing the devil's work since 2009, criss-crossing the USA (and Mexico!) bringing total aural devastation unto all who fall under their spell. They have just announced the beginning of yet another mammoth American tour, one that hits nearly every corner of the country and sees them sharing stages with the likes of Batillus, Hull, The Body, Weekend Nachos, Valdur, Necrite, Woe, and many other underground dwellers. The band will be appearing at this year's edition of SXSW as well as the Oakland Black/Death Fest, and are kicking things off with a hometown show with Eyehategod, Magrudergrind, and Misery Index tomorrow night (February 18th, 2011).

After a few lineup changes, MUTILATION RITES has solidified into their deadliest incarnation yet. Their sound draws from the poisoned wells of blackthrash, doom, and crust punk, as well as referencing the ravishing grimness and ice-cold tremolo picking of the mid-90's Scandinavian masters; the result is ugly, hateful, and distorted, just as a New York black metal band should be. The band features current and former members of Tombs, Disassociate, Curandera, Rabia, and Heuristic.

MUTILATION RITES are also gearing up to release three brand-new songs on cassette (courtesy of Poison Infiltration) as well as a split with Brooklyn bros BATILLUS on Shinebox later this year. The songs were recorded with Kevin Bernsten (of TRIAC) at Developing Nations in Baltimore, and will rip your fucking face off.

God Dethroned to split up
2011-02-17
Might Dutch Death Metal warriors GOD DETHRONED have announced to call it quits by the end of this year.

Read the statement of GOD DETHRONED mainman Henri Sattler: "For a Nihilist, nothing is at least something. 2011 is GOD DETHRONED's final year in existence.

We could have spent another year in a tour bus because the amount of offers was endless, but I just don't feel like touring anymore. People told me to take a break for a year or maybe two, but as I'm an "all, or nothing at all" type of person, I decided to call it quits. Not immediately, but in December of this year we will definitely play our last show. That's gonna be at the Eindhoven Metal Meeting in Holland. I'm very proud of what we achieved with the band, but the time has come for new challenges. I would like to thank all of our fans for their support for all these years." Cheers, Henri
On behalf of GOD DETHRONED

Confirmed GOD DETHRONED live shows:
02/07/11 – NL – Nijmegen – Fortarock
20/08/11 – DE – Dinkelsbühl – Summer Breeze Festival (final German show)
17/12/11 – NL – Eindhoven – Metal Meeting (farewell show)
