Kataklysm announce DVD title

Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM have begun the long process of putting together elements for their upcoming 20th-anniversary DVD. Titled "The Iron Will: 20 Years Determined", this documentary will begin with the band's inception in 1991 and tell the lasting story behind of one of the most important extreme musical exports in Canada`s short 143-year history. Director and producer Tommy Jones (SOILWORK, DEATH ANGEL) will catch the band's heartbeat on the road to put the memories together. The DVD will also include interviews with a wide range of characters, including the band's infamous first frontman Sylvain Houde, who sang on the first three KATAKLYSM albums, "The Mystical Gate Of Reincarnation" (1993), "Sorcery" (1996), and "Temple Of Knowledge" (1999).

A single and a video clip for the title track "The Iron Will" will be recorded this summer.

The massive content of the DVD will include KATAKLYSM's upcoming headlining show at Summer Breeze festival in Germany where the band will perform classics from all of its eleven releases.

Commented KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono: "This is something that we are doing first for ourselves to look back at the long and hard road traveled and to be grateful that twenty years later this band is stronger than ever and still means something in the music world. Job For A Cowboy to enter studio

Glendale, AZ extreme metal band JOB FOR A COWBOY have entered Florida's Audio Hammer Studios with producer Jason Suecof to record an EP of all new material. The as-yet-untitled EP will feature the first new music from the band since 2009's Ruination LP which landed at #42 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. A spring release via Metal Blade records is expected.

"It felt like a long time since we last got together to write new material," commented JOB FOR A COWBOY vocalist Jonny Davy. "After collaborating in the snow of Boston, we're now recording our second EP. It feels good to be in Florida with Jason, Ron and Eyal of Audio Hammer studios. JFAC 2.0 is on the way."

JOB FOR A COWBOY formed in 2003 in Glendale, Arizona. In the short time since the release of the band's 2005 EP Doom, the group has progressed from "the band with the different name" to one of the leading lights for heavy music in the 21st century. In 2007, JOB FOR A COWBOY's full length debut Genesis became the highest charting metal debut to crack Billboard's Top 200 since Slipknot's 1999 self-titled album and its first week charting position represented one of the highest Billboard debuts ever for a band representing the "death metal" subgenre. 2009's Ruination LP upped the ante, landing at #42 on the Billboard Chart. JFAC has toured the world to out-and-out acclaim, highlighted by numerous world headlining tours and main stage appearances at distinguished music jubilees such as the UK's Download Festival, Germany's Wacken Open Air and The Rockstar Mayhem Festival. King Cobra to release new album

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the Self-Titled come back album from KING KOBRA on April 15th in Europe and May 5th in North America.

Formed in 1984 by legendary drummer Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne), Los Angeles heavy metal outfit King Kobra recorded two critically acclaimed albums for Capitol Records – the 1985 release 'Ready to Strike' and 1986's 'Thrill of a Lifetime'.

Along with Carmine, the band featured four relatively unknown musicians at the time – David Michael-Philips and Mick Sweda on guitar, Johnny Rod on bass and Mark Free on lead vocals. King Kobra toured the U.S., Canada, Europe and Mexico playing shows with Kiss, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, Ted Nugent, Queensryche and Autograph.

The band was featured regularly on MTV and performed the theme song for the #1 1986 motion picture "Iron Eagle". After disbanding in 1988, each member continued his career in other successful major-label groups - Carmine to Blue Murder (Geffen), Mark Free to Unruly Child (Interscope), Mick Sweda to the BulletBoys (Warner Bros.), Johnny Rod to W.A.S.P. (Capitol/EMI) and David Michael-Philips to Lizzy Borden (Metal Blade).

The year 2010 saw the band reunite the original classic '85 lineup, replacing original singer Mark Free (now Marcie Free) with veteran lead vocalist Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot). “This album captures all the great points we had in the 80's, but better” says Carmine Appice “The music is more traditional King Kobra music. Great lyrics, kick ass songs with cool hooks and really good playing. A really great hard rock/metal record with lots of energy”. David Michael-Phillips adds “It truly is an all-star album. Paul Shortino is amazing! I can honestly say he is one of the best vocalists in the business along with being one of the nicest and most generous people I have ever met”.

Necrophagia to release new album

Six years after 2005's "Harvest Ritual Volume I", legendary Death Metal pioneer NECROPHAGIA is back with a new album! The band's fifth official full-length is entitled "Deathtrip 69"and will hit the stores on next May 16th (one day later in North America).

Comments band leader Killjoy: "Necrophagia has once again decided to work exclusively with Season of Mist for "Deathtrip 69", continuing a cooperation that has lasted over a decade. SOM has been a vital part of the band's continued growth for many years and I'm pleased that the band indeed has a proper "Crypt" (home) with the French based label."

Sebastian Bach sign with Frontiers Records

Frontiers Records is proud to announce the signing of golden-voiced, iconic rock frontman Sebastian Bach to an exclusive worldwide, multi-album recording contract. Bach will head in to the studio later this month with his new young virtuosic guitarist Nick Sterling to record a brand new album. Producer Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Shinedown, Atreyu, Filter) will be at the helm. The album is tentatively scheduled for a summer, 2011 worldwide release.

Trust and Lock Up cancel Hellfest appearance

Unfortunately we’re sad to announce that two bands are forced to cancel their upcoming appearances at Hellfest 2011.

The first one, and not the least, is TRUST. Here is the band's official statement :

"Unfortunately Trust will not be playing on the 18th of June 2011 at Hellfest festival. The band will not be performing any concerts for an indefined period of time. We would like to point out that that it is not linked in any way with the organization of the Hellfest event."

The second cancelation is LOCK UP originally scheduled to play Saturday, June 18th under the Rock Hard tent. A problem in their tour schedules has forced the band to cancel this performance.

We apologize for these two changes and we would like to announce the bands who will be replacing them, as well as the 3 surprise acts you were all waiting for!

With great pleasure, we can confirm that IN FLAMES and DOWN will be playing at Hellfest on June 17th and DARK TRANQUILITY, DUFF MACKAGAN’S LOADED and STATIC-X will be playing on Sunday, June 19th!

Also note that ANGEL WITCH and HAIL OF BULLETS will be performing on the Saturday, June 18th, instead of on the Sunday, June 19th as originally planned.

Avulsed celebrate 20th anniversary

2011 is the year!! The year of the 20th anniversary of AVULSED, the most constant & veteran Death Metal band from Spain, formed back in August 1991, being the most active live band not only within Spain, but also around the world (4 Euro-tours, Russia, USA, Japan, Mexico, South & Central America...), always carrying the flag of the most genuine Death Metal. Having spawned 5 full length albums, 3 demos, 2 EP's and other releases making a total of 10 CD's & a DVD, the band feels stronger than ever and of course ready to prepare something special to commemorate these 20 years surviving trends & fashions and never wimping out!!

During the 1st half of 2011, a total of 18 songs taken from all their albums, will be re-recorded for a CD entitled "Fleshcube". Instead of just doing a compilation with the original recordings (that would be too easy & cheap), the band decided to re-record all these songs with the current line-up, the current guitar sound (way heavier than before), their current drummer (who has empowered the playing of the songs) and in general, the usual modifications that each song suffers after being played for years and years. In resume, it'll be an album with only the best songs of the band. No fillers, just classics!! A special limited edition will be released, most probably a box containing a double CD, exclusive shirt, stickers, photos and other goodies, limited to the first ones to come, but it's still undecided how it'll be. We'll keep you informed!!

Needless to say that AVULSED will be presenting "Fleshcube" after its release, planned sometime after summer, playing all these killer songs, while still working on the composition of new tunes for their 6th full length album tentatively to be recorded in 2012 with the working title of "Ritual Zombi", a title written in Spanish, but perfectly understandable in English too, which not only in tribute to DEATH, of course, but also will serve to introduce the zombie element into AVULSED's lyrics to make them not just brutal, gore & macabre, but fucking horrifying as well.

Also, 2011 means the first agreement ever made between AVULSED and a management. A few shows for AVULSED are already confirmed for 2011. In late 2010, AVULSED recorded a cover of BLACK SABBATH’s song “Neon Knights” for an upcoming double CD in tribute to Ronnie James DIO, including some of the most relevant Spanish Metal bands. AVULSED is the only Death Metal band on this compilation and without any doubt this will be the heaviest and most brutal song on the whole tribute!

Ogen reveal album details

Italian avantgarde black metal project OGEN will see the release of its debut EP, "Black Metal Unbound", in Spring 2011 via Kolony Records. The CD is currently being recorded at Elfo Studio in Italy with producer Daniele Mandelli (FORGOTTEN TOMB, DARK HORIZON). It features a guest appearance by BE’LAKOR lead singer George Kosmas in the song "Shattered Earth volcano".

OGEN was formed in 2010 as a solo project of mastermind Hartagga who had the desire to explore the field of extreme metal, pushing his lifelong musical quest further. The path to follow was clear since the beginning: from the early stages of the project, OGEN was meant to contribute its view and compositions to the ever-changing genre of black metal. With this in mind, the songwriting process started to flow easily, revealing OGEN's ability to forge tunes made of both black metal edges and episodes of not-so-obvious harmonic tapestry. An EP was born, set to firstly declare OGEN's will to provide the world of metal with an enchantingly estranging extreme metal outfit, which never lacks perspective and whose wall of sound, easily more relevant than speed for speed's sake, will take listeners on a trip to the deep heart of forgotten landscapes.

Jaggernaut working on new album

JAGGERNAUT's frontman and vocalist Niclas Johnsson (FULL STRIKE, ex TWILIGHT ILLUSION, ex old FATAL SMILE) and guitarist/producer Wojtek Lisicki (LOST HORIZON, LUCIFERION, ex AGAINST THE PLAGUES) have united their forces, now in closeknit collaboration.

The musicians have since months been focusing on structuring up the concept, incorporating members, making plans and frenetically working on material for the upcoming album.

The formation is now vigorously polishing the foundations for this blasting release planned to be fired off somewhere in 2011 in cooperation with a matching business partner.

In addition to Wojtek's now official membership in JAGGERNAUT, as guitarist, he also sits behind the steers as the producer of the album. Those of the previously written tracks that will be included on the album have been considerably rearranged, reorchestrated and protagonized by Wojtek. He has, furthermore, composed all the new material while Niclas is the creator of all vocal arrangements and lyrics on the album.

This intriguing fusion of different artistic approaches now results in a material with wide spectrum of styles and richness of strange elements coded in a singular manner within the details, therefore also increasing the range of attraction for different metal tastes.

You are going to experience everything from uplifting, catchy parts right in your face, through touching melodies, cosmic and mystical synths/effects from unknown dimensions, through aggressive, thrashy and punky riffs, then suddenly heavy and very groovy rhythms succeeded - out of nowhere - with mathematical structures executed with robotic strokes and beats. Everything amalgamated with Niclas' powerful and convincing voice, full off anger and life's misery, but then also filled with mighty lines of hope and strengthening of your inner self.

The featuring band members will be announced shortly! With the new, powerful lineup JAGGERNAUT has turned into a solid and strong energy unit ready to hit the stages. Satan's Host release date set

Today, MORIBUND RECORDS has confirmed May 3rd as the release date for SATAN'S HOST's brand-new album, By the Hands of the Devil. Neuronia reveal new lineup

Polish metallers Neuronia have unveiled their new lineup, reinforced by two acknowledged musicians from Warsaw’s metal scene. The band will soon release an international version of their last album, “Follow The White Mouse”.

In mid-January 2011 Neuronia’s bass player Dominik „Domo” Beśka left the band due to time constraints. He played in Neuronia since 2006 and participated in the recording of the band’s both studio albums, as well as 2007’s “First Blood” EP. Michał “Thor” Pasternak, the band’s drummer, also left to be able to focus fully on his main band - Relikt, and thrash-metal outfit War-Saw.

‘Of course it’s a difficult situation for the band when the whole rhythm section leaves. However, we’re very happy that the split wasn’t acrimonious, there was no bad blood and we’re all still friends,’ says Michał “Misiek” Rogala, founder of the band. ‘We’re very lucky – we’ve found two great musicians in no time, and they have seamlessly found their place in the line-up. We’re even more motivated now – we feel a lot of newly-found energy,’ he adds.

Daniel ‘Beton’ Grotkiewicz has assumed bass duties. He is a seasoned musician, as well as the founder, leader and mainstay of Warsaw’s death metal horde, Mesmerize. He also plays bass in the grindcore band Anticipate and sang lead for Gortal for a time.

Marek “Deviant” Kuczyński, who also plays in the gothic-metal outfit At The Lake as well as for the grindcore band Anus Magulo, became Neuronia’s new drummer. Marek also played in Vecordia and Nailgun.

The new line-up is getting ready for spring time shows. You will have the first opportunity to witness the new Neuronia in action on Feb 25th in ComeIn, Opole next to Jelonek, Baliama and Pigs In Tank. Two days later, the same line-up of bands will appear in MegaClub, Katowice.

As a result of the line-up change, the band had to postpone the plans to record the four-track EP, which was announced in December last year. ‘But we’ll have a small surprise release ready for our fans in the spring,’ announces Maciek “Tektur” Nawrot, Neuronia’s lead singer.

The band’s recent studio album ‘Follow The White Mouse’ is set for international release via Metal Scrap Records (Ukraine). The contract for the release has been signed in mid-January. The release – which features a slightly changed sleeve design and a pit-art engraving on the bottom side of the disc – will have its premiere in February/March 2011.

Razor return to the live scene

Canada's RAZOR are announcing their first show in Montreal in over five years at Foufounes Electriques on Friday April 29th, 2011. Playing only a few shows a year they are also set to headline the 2011 'True Thrash Festival' in Osaka, Japan on February 11 and the show in Montreal will be one the only shows they play in North America all year. The show will also include support from Riotor as well as FTME an S.O.D cover band.

Razor is a Canadian thrash metal band formed in 1984 in Guelph, Ontario. Razor combines the sound of bands like Venom, Slayer, Motörhead and early Metallica yet with more punk ethic to their music. Their music features plenty of speedy riffs, fast drumming, shredding guitar solos and of course the use of chainsaw's. The group shot music videos for songs such as "Evil Invaders", "Shotgun Justice", "American Luck", and "Sucker for Punishment".
The band dissolved in 1992, but reformed in the late 1990s to record another album, titled Decibels, in 1997. The band dissolved again, and reformed in 2005, and are currently planning to record another studio album. Featured on the 2005 "The Gates of Hell Tour". They also headlined the 2009 "Headbangers Open Air" festival in Germany in July 2009. They have toured with well known acts such as Slayer, Motörhead and Venom. Most recently they appeared on November 12, 2010 at the El Mocambo in Toronto.

Faroese Hardcore/Thrash metal band SIC has inked a deal with Danish label Mighty Music / Target Distribution for the release of the band’s sophomore album, “Fighters They Bleed”. The album will see its international release on April 11th 2011.

The follow up to 2007’s “Pandemonium” (Tutl Records) was recorded at Hansen Studios in Denmark, with producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, DESTRUCTION, MERCENARY, HEAVEN SHALL BURN etc) and was mixed by Tue Madsen (DARK TRANQUILLITY, SICK OF IT ALL, MOONSPELL, THE HAUNTED etc). The album is the first one to feature SIC’s new drummer, Dennis Buhl (ex-HATESPHERE), as Buhl replaced Magnus Hansen in December 2009. The album’s artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton (SEPTICFLESH).

PENTAGRAM, the band that has been churning out widely admired hard rock/doom metal for over four decades, has just revealed the track listing and artwork to the band's highly anticipated full-length album Last Rites. Last Rites, out on April 12th via Metal Blade Records, contains 11 new tracks of behemoth tunes that fans have been clamoring for since the last Liebling/Griffin masterpiece was released in 1994 (Be Forewarned).

Cover art for Last Rites was handled by Mo Moussa (MoMoussa.com) who is best known for his work with Marvel & DC Comics. A Philly native and a huge fan of underground music, his work also graces the covers of several of his favorite local bands including Total Fucking Destruction.

Nightwish reveal concept for new album

In the midst of recording a new album, Nightwish has been preparing a movie. "Imaginarium" is a music fantasy - film based on the forthcoming Nightwish album of the same title and its 13 songs.

The protagonist of the film is a songwriter with an otherworldly imagination. He is an old man who still thinks he`s a young boy. While asleep he travels into his distant past where his dreams of old come back to him mixed to the young boy`s world of fantasy and music.

In his dreams the old man fights to find the memories most important to him.

This never-done-before project originates to more than two years in the past when Tuomas first introduced his ambitious idea of the Imaginarium - concept to the fellow band members and to Mr. Stobe Harju, the director behind "The Islander" - music video. He will be the director of this full-length feature. The film will be produced by Solar Films Inc. together with Nightwish.

The shootings for "Imaginarium" will begin this spring, it will have its premiere in 2012 and the album it`s based on will be released in an undefined point in time.

Nightwish will hold a press conference related to this project at the end of February.
