COLDWORKER has begun work on their third studio album and follow-up to 2008’s Rotting Paradise. The new album, titled The Doomsayer’s Call, is being recorded by the band and will feature 13 brand new tracks and a cover of Autopsy’s “Critical Madness”. Mixing will take place at Unisound studios with Dan Swanö (OPETH, KATATONIA, DISSECTION) and a late summer release date is expected.
Swedish metal musicians guest on Shadowside

Brazilian female-fronted Metal band Shadowside recently received three very special guests in the studio. Singers Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity), Björn "Speed" Strid (Soilwork) and Niklas Isfeldt (Dream Evil) have been at Fredman Studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, to record their performances on "Inner Monster Out", song that is going to be on the tracklist of the band's new album.
At this moment, Dani Nolden (vocal), Raphael Mattos (guitars), Ricardo Piccoli (bass) and Fabio Buitvidas (drums) have just finishing all recordings and are finishing touching up the last details on the third album. In charge of the production is Fredrik Nordström, one of the most important Rock/Metal producers nowadays.
Record label SHP Records, distributed by Universal Music, has scheduled the release date for June 7th.

Canadian stoner metallers BISON b.c., who were scheduled to play a special one-off show at Seattle's El Corazon this past weekend with NOLA sludge heathens Eyehategod, were unable to cross the border and thus, did not play the gig.
Comments guitarist/vocalist James Farwell of the ordeal: "Due to our vicious plot to undermine the American economy and to destroy the citizens of the United States of America's belief in freedom and baseball or whatever, we weren't allowed to cross that fascinating imaginary line. More likely due to a fucking clerical error somewhere in Corporate America, the fine people at Homeland Security had no choice but to keep Americans secure from us dirty fucking Canadians. But fear not my fellow poser Canadians, we will get our fucking paper work in order soon enough and be down destroying things before you can say, 'Does Celine Dion shit in the fucking woods?!,' -- and yes indeed she does. Peace on Earth."
In related news, the band is currently in the studio penning the follow-up to their critically acclaimed Dark Ages full-length, which made its way on to a host of Year End lists including Revolver Magazine's Top 20 of 2010 where the band was commended for releasing, "the best meat-and-potatoes stoner-metal record this year." Melodic death metal tyrants AMON AMARTH are proud to announce their 2011 U.S. headlining tour. Simply dubbed "An Evening With AMON AMARTH," this very special trek will find the band touring without support and instead performing two separate sets each night! One set will feature upcoming album Surtur Rising in its entirety. The Viking-inspired festivities will commence on April 14th in Chicago, Illinois and pillage its way through 17 cities throughout the country before drawing to a climactic close on May 7 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Mastodon to release live debut

Mastodon will release their first-ever live experience package entitled LIVE AT THE ARAGON on March 15th, 2011.
The set will contain a CD and DVD recorded and filmed live October 19th, 2009, at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. MASTODON: LIVE AT THE ARAGON DVD + CD is comprised of Crack The Skye performed live in its glorious entirety along with fan favorites from Blood Mountain (2006) and Leviathan (2004) plus a brutal cover of "The Bit" by Melvins.
The DVD will also feature a 58 minute tour film titled "Crack The Skye: The Movie" that contains the films which were projected on screen, behind the band in performance.

Swedish cult act MORBID have teamed up with Century Media Records to release “Year Of The Goat”, a 100% official vinyl and CD offering covering the seminal band’s first demo “December Moon”, live and rehearsal recordings on April 4th, 2011 in Europe.
“Year Of The Goat” will be available as ultra deluxe triple-gatefold LP with three 180g vinyls, printed inner sleeves and slipcase as well as deluxe kingsize 2CD mediabook in a slipcase packaging. All material has been collected and compiled by Dr. Schitz in cooperation with Napoleon Pukes, Drutten, Klacke, TG as well as Dead’s brothers Anders and Daniel Ohlin. It also features liner notes by Daniel Ekeroth (author of “Swedish Death Metal”) along with an in-depth interview by Metalion (taken from the final issue of Slayer Magazine). Rounded off with cover artwork and entire layout being done by Erik Danielsson (Watain), “Year Of The Goat” is the first comprehensive MORBID release that truly honors the band’s musical legacy and memory of legendary vocalist Dead – also renowned for his time in Norwegian black metal act MAYHEM – who committed suicide on April 8, 1991.
Dr Schitz states in his interview with Metalion (Slayer Mag):
“I would have been quite content if MORBID would have remained in utter obscurity, but the Norns wanted otherwise and who am I to argue with them? Seeing all the bootlegs (over 35 last time I counted, and they keep coming) and interest in MORBID we decided that it would be proper to bring some closure to it all by doing a final, ultimate release. Not to cash in; on the contrary as we have decided to not make any profit but rather donate the proceeds to worthy causes. “This year we are celebrating 10 years as a band since we first formed at the young age of 14 in a garage. This is definitely a new and exciting time for our band and we have a lot of news to report.
We will now be known as BLESSED CURSE. At this point we’ve decided to change our name due to the ever-increasing number of bands deciding to use the name Devastator, and ".....tor" bands in general, that have been springing up these days so we’ve concluded that it is best for our band to stand out from the pack as much as possible, apart from our music alone, by changing our name from Devastator to BLESSED CURSE. This new name fits our band to the letter because of our extensive history of being a band from an area where there is not much of anything for a music scene and having to travel to build any kind of fanbase, life on the road, all the ups and downs and in betweens of being in a metal band. New York City doomsters THE RESURRECTION SORROW are currently hard at work on their next release. The band are again working with NYC-based producer Joe Hogan (Nebula, The Atomic Bitchwax) as on their debut album, 2009's thunderous Hour Of The Wolf. Falconer finish new album

Swedish Folk Heavy Metallers FALCONER have finished recordings for their long anticipated seventh studio album!
11 tracks in Swedish of which four will also be included as English versions for the limited 1st edition have been nailed down and once again the creation was done at King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque's Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden during December and January. The recording and mixing process went smoother than ever before says the band, after finishing their new album.
Comments FALCONER guitarist Stefan Weinerhall: "The album is embracing the Swedish folk music to a greater extent than before making it sound slightly more down to earth. The music spans from acoustic songs with cello, flute and fiddle to songs with blastbeats and really heavy riffing. As said before this is a "one time only" album and does not define the future sound of Falconer, but it was about time to pay full notice to the influence that has always made us different. Now we have that out of our system!"

ANTERIOR have begun recording the follow up to 2007's This Age Of Silence at Grindstone Studios with Scott Atkins (Stampin' Ground, Sylosis, Gamma Bomb, Man Must Die).
James Britton provides an update into the current world of ANTERIOR in the latest part of their studio diary.
"Hey guys n dolls, thought I would entice your cream buds with a studio update!
I have recently finished tracking the bass to the new AnterioR record and now with the completion of drums, 4000 rhythm guitars, bass and some lead lines it sounds more pleasing than Brazilian fart porn! Not to much to say about the bass really, only that with the help of Scott Atkins at the helm we got a sound so heavy and nasty that it would actually make Satan weep! Scott has been a great help with this new album and has really brought out the best in us and in the new songs.
From my personal view I would say the songs on the new record are definitely more driven and more aggressive but with bigger melodies than found on "This age of silence". It is a natural progression from our first album and has some different edges that we felt needed exploring to keep things fresh. This has also been influenced by the gap between the albums and how our music taste has matured and varied during this time. Leon and Nixon are currently putting all of the lead work on the album as we speak and it sounds more epic than a weed cloud full of free Johnnie Walker and hookers! The main thing is that we are all extremely happy with the way things are sounding and literally cannot wait to unleash this beast on the planet.
We will be playing mostly new songs on our upcoming Metal Hammer Razor Tour in February so make sure to get to a show and provide yourself with an eargasm! In a recent review, someone actually said ‘Has the interest died down too much over the past few years, or can Anterior reignite a withering flame? I can openly say that, it has been a few years and line up changes but, with the power and aggression of these new songs, the line up we have now, and the new found drive, fuck the withering flame, we will be setting fire to everything in sight! Love, sex wee and some cliche metal saying."

The new, and yet untitled new album will be released by Metal Blade in spring of 2011.
Trollfest album details revealed

Self-styled “True Norwegian Balkan Metallers” TROLLFEST, who recently inked a deal with NoiseArt Records, as well as the booking agency Rock the Nation, have today previewed the artwork and track listing for the forthcoming album, “En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral”, which is due for release in April.
Commenting on the concept of the album and the artwork, the band, known for its exuberant live performances and whose members are drawn from bands such as URGEHAL, PANTHEON I, UNTIME, MELCH, SARKOM, HALLUCINATIONS and POWERSWORD, had this to say:
“Just like our second album “Brakebein”, “En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral” is also a concept album, which this time centres on the story of five Trolls who set out on a quest to find the Holy Grail that will reputedly deliver all the Trolls from a horrible famine. Exactly how it will do this is not by some heaven sent miracle, but by providing an endless food source in the shape of the hordes of Christians who will come searching for the Holy Grail themselves! As you can imagine, this rather “unholy” quest is a somewhat beer-fuelled, blood-soaked adventure in typical Troll tradition! And if you want to know what happens next to the brave questers, there is an epilogue in the form of bonus track on the digi pack edition.
“When it came to actually illustrating the story of our five brave and adventurous Trolls for “En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral”, there was only one choice we could possibly make, and that was Jonas Darnell. Ever since he created the evil Iron Duck for our “Villanden” album, Jonas has been bringing the characters of the TrollfesT universe to life through his art. It then falls to Terje Johnsen to design and put together all of Jonas’ wonderful creations into a spectacular package. Terje has been part of the TrollfesT crew since Brakebein, and his work has earned him the honorary title of ‘Andy WarTroll’”.
Track listing for “En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral”, which roughly translated means ”A Quest For the Holy Grail”, and is a play on the word “quest” in both the accepted sense, and in the sense of the Norwegian word “kvesting” which refers to the crushing of the crusaders, is as follows:

As of now the general public can stop by their local disc monger and pick up Grim Scary Tales, the anticipated new full-length from Chicago's murder metallers MACABRE, as it is officially unleashed upon North Americans today! As always, the band released the album on their own Decomposed Records imprint, with distribution in North America on this release via Willowtip Records.
