Valdur line up two special shows
2011-01-25
Mammoth Lakes, California blackened death horde VALDUR, who released their Raven God Amongst Us full-length upon unsuspecting masses this past summer and are already working on new tunes, will bring their infernal rumblings to the live arena for two very special shows. The first will happen this coming Friday at The Blvd. in Boyle Heights, California. The second will be an appearance on the Oakland Black/Death Fest at the Metro Operhouse on Saturday March 12th. The band will be joined by headliners Dispirit, Necrite and Mutilation Rites among others.

Commented drummer Sxuperion on the live shows and upcoming new tunes: "We always look forward to the live event, as we very much appreciate and respect the energy and effort that is required to provide VALDUR's music immediately! Otherwise, VALDUR has basically kept our determination focused upon the writing of many new songs that will see themselves appear on a new full-length release. We are buried in ten to 20 feet of snow in town which is very conducive to writing and creating. The new songs are faster and more intense than anything that VALDUR has released thus far. This new full-length will be finished and out when we say so."

Barn Burner to record new album
2011-01-25
Montreal, QC natives, Barn Burner, are getting ready to head to the studio to record their follow up to Bangers, their criticially acclaimed Metal Blade Records debut. The band has been touring and working on new tunes for upwards of two years now, and are hungry to lay down the new tracks.

Vocalist/guitarist Kevin Keegan has offered up the following update: "We have been itching to get back into the studio and record what we have been working on for 2 years now. The new tunes are fiercer but still catchy enough to show to your dad. Excited to work with Adrian Popovich at Mountain City again and drink all of his shitty coffee. Basically, this new record will just give us more excuses to drink beer and play shows."

Have no doubts Barn Burner will do just that – drink beer and play shows! Keep an eye out for tour dates later this year. Get a glimpse of what the band is like live in their video for Half Past Haggard HERE. The band has one show coming up on January 27th at Off The Hook, located on 1021 St. Catherine W in Montreal. The show is at 8pm – entrance is FREE and beer is FREE!

Nuclear Blast to release Hell album
2011-01-24
Hear the sound of distant thunder……the time has come again.

Friday 13th is universally feared for unleashing the darkest imaginable forces in human history. When the entity about to burst forth has waited hidden, seething and festering for a quarter of a century before unloading its gross assault on the senses, the outcome is potentially spectacular. Such is the case with UK metal legends HELL, who on May 13th will release ‘Human Remains’ through NUCLEAR BLAST .

Cited as a huge indirect influence, and as one of the true founding fathers of occult metal, the band formed in 1982 from the carcasses of UK metal bands RACE AGAINST TIME and PARALEX, whose ‘White Lightning’ EP was listed by Metallica as a favourite, and which was subsequently included on the Lars Ulrich, Geoff Barton ‘NWOBHM ’79 Revisited’ sampler album.

Despite over five years of constant touring, the band were cruelly overlooked by the ’80’s music press, who just didn’t get it. HELL were too different, too extreme, too musically intelligent and far too thought-provoking for all but the most enlightened to understand them. The final crushing blow came when their long-awaited 1986 album deal with Mausoleum collapsed as the label went bankrupt, followed by the tragic suicide of singer/guitarist, Dave Halliday in 1987. The remaining members drew a line in the sand and stopped playing overnight.

A teenage Andy Sneap was a permanent fixture on the front row of almost every show HELL played and was also taught to play guitar by Halliday. He then went on to form Sabbat and become a renowned metal producer. Upon meeting again, the remaining members of HELL - Kev Bower (guitar/keys), Tony Speakman (bass) and Tim Bowler (drums) talked with Andy about re-recording the old material to release in conjunction with the old demos. With Sneap replacing Halliday on guitar and David Bower on vocals, the band has recorded 10 HELL classics from the 80’s.

One hugely respected European journal has already described ‘Human Remains’ as one of the best things they have heard in the last 15 years and THE band to watch out for in 2011.

Like a venomous creature preserved in amber, HELL’s legacy becomes reborn – pure and untainted, cast forth screaming.

‘HELL are one of my all time fave bands from the NWOBHM and I am really stoked to get the chance to work with an act I’d consider so groundbreaking! Back in the day I received the demos through tape trading and now years later with the music re-recorded by Andy Sneap , the band sounds even fresher than ever before! I am very proud that we at Nuclear Blast now have the chance to work with HELL and give you the chance to listen to some timeless music.

It is about time that HELL got the international recognition that they deserve and that so many people who are unaware of this monster band finally get the chance to hear all these classics!’

Jaap Wagemaker A & R Nuclear Blast

O wretched souls in mortal cast – know this, and know it well,
The hour has come when it shall be – On Earth as it is in HELL.

Across The Sun release first single
2011-01-24
Portland, Oregon's ACROSS THE SUN recorded their Metal Blade Records debut album, Before The Night Takes Us, with producer Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios in San Diego, CA. The album is the culmination of seven years of recording, touring and polishing their sound. Daniel Castleman held each member to a high standard in the studio; "It was an amazing learning experience; no previous ACROSS THE SUN recording process has ever been this in depth", adds vocalist Brandon Davis. The individual performances are better than any previous ACROSS THE SUN release.

Guitarist Sam Hafer emphasizes, "This record takes everything that ACROSS THE SUN was and expands it; the musicianship, the tonal palette, the dynamics and song structure were all things we pushed into new and challenging territory. The result is the greatest body of music we have produced to date." Their performance, coupled with Castleman's stellar mixing/mastering, produced a "big" sounding album. Everything from Davis' clean vocals, Hafer's guitar solos, and Murray's keys have an engrossing and epic breadth.

Fans can now get a taste of the album via facebook.com/acrossthesun. The first single, Song for the Hopeless, is available via "Liking" their page. This first song is exemplary of the rest of the album in that it showcases ACROSS THE SUN´s musical peaks and valleys and some of their most heavy and melodic moments. Legen Beltz sign with Punishment 18 Records
2011-01-24
Punishment 18 Records is glad to announce that the debut album from young Italian thrashers H.O.S., entitled "The Beginning" is finally available; they play old school thrash metal in the vein of German legends, but also debtor to the Bay Area style. The band is already engaged in promotional gigs, in Italy and abroad.

Furthermore, we're pleased to welcome the thrashers LEGEN BELTZA, from the Basque Country, in our roster! The guys are already known for their previous works, and for more than ten years of live activity. The new and fourth album, entitled "Need To Suffer", was mixed and mastered during 2010 at "Stage One Studio" by Andy Classen, and self produced by the band last May, so it's ready to be re-issued and distributed worldwide. The proposal is now more violent than before, supported by its great production!

Stay tuned, keep the metal faith alive!

August Burns Red enter studio
2011-01-24
Genre giants AUGUST BURNS RED have solidified plans to enter the studio February 14th to record their currently untitled fourth album. The band will re-team with metal mastermind Jason Suecof at his Audio Hammer Studios outside of Orlando, FL.

Suecof is no stranger to ABR's highly influential brand of metalcore, as he was the man behind the board for Constellations, the band's 2009 breakout hit that made waves when it landed at #24 on the Billboard Top 200. The band's third album – whose sales have soared past 90,000 – established in no uncertain terms that AUGUST BURNS RED was a leader of its genre, a band that was quietly outselling, outdrawing and garnering more praise than peers who've been gracing magazine covers for years. Only suddenly, it wasn't so quiet anymore. The fans and critics have spoken – loudly.

"We can't wait to get back to Florida to start recording with Suecof," says guitarist and principle songwriter JB Brubaker. "We're just about finished writing and it's shaping up to be a huge sounding album. I can't ever recall feeling this excited to get started when getting ready for past albums."

The currently untitled album is set for release this summer, details to be announced.

Currently scheduled dates
May 30 - Moscow, Russia @ Tochka Club
May 31 - St. Petersburg, Russia @ Glav Club
Jun 1 - Helsinki, Finland @ Nosturi
Jun 2 - Hassleholm, Sweden @ Siesta Festival
Jun 7 - Athens, Greece @ Kyttaro Club
Jun 8 - Istanbul, Turkey @ Balans Club

2011-01-23
Due to creative differences, Ryan Bartek has left BLOOD OF MARTYRS. The Portland, Oregon extreme metal group continues onward, planning a new recording for 2011.

In the immediate future Bartek will be working on a variety of projects – including new SASQUATCH AGNOSTIC & JACK CASSADY recordings.

Amebix announce new album title
2011-01-21
The darkest hour is upon us. The legends have returned.

AMEBIX, one of the best-loved and most influential bands in heavy music, have spent the last two years working towards this, a defining moment in their storied career - the release of their first collection of all-new material since 1987.

On September 20, 2011, upon the cusp of the autumnal Equinox, the new AMEBIX album will be released. Entitled Sonic Mass, these nine songs represent the past, present, and future of the band, and will enthrall and inspire longtime fans and new converts alike. As dark, crushing, and honest as anything on their classics Arise! and Monolith, but imbued with a lifetime of hardship, raw emotion, and eternal hope, Sonic Mass is the album AMEBIX have always wanted to create.

The album was recorded at Rock Cottage in Derbyshire and The Lodge Studios in Northampton, England, and engineered, mixed and produced by AMEBIX drummer Roy Mayorga. Sonic Mass will be released digitally and on CD by Alternative Tentacles, with a deluxe 12" vinyl edition from Profane Existence.

Formed in the late seventies and hailed as the godfathers of crust punk and extreme metal, AMEBIX had long lain dormant until the addition of drummer Roy Mayorga (Nausea, Crisis, Soulfly, Stone Sour), a DVD release, and a string of 2009 reunion shows reignited the flame. The band's resurrection first resulted in the release of 2010's Redux EP, which features live and rerecorded versions of several of the band's best-loved classics, including "Winter," "Chain Reaction," and the immortal battle cry, "Arise." The songs were remixed by Mayorga and Redux is available from Profane Existence on CD, 12" LP and digitally.

Now, the time has come to finish what they started. A whole new chapter in the AMEBIX saga has begun.

AMEBIX IS
Rob Miller: Vocals/Bass
Stig C Miller: Guitars
Roy Mayorga: Drums/Keyboards/Mandolin

Victimizer announce new vocalist
2011-01-21
Effective immediately, ARNOLD OUDE MIDDENDORP (NETHERSTORM, ex-DEVIOUS, ex-ALTAR) is the new vocalist for Nijmegen, Netherlands based Death quintet VICTIMIZER. He is replacing NIELS FEEKES, who chose to dedicate himself to his family, due to the coming birth of his second child. Niels' final show with Victimizer was at last December's Eindhoven Metal Meeting.

VICTIMIZER's new full-length 'TALES OF LOSS AND NEW FOUND SERENITY' (DEITY DOWN RECORDS) recently was released in the BeNeLux (November 01 2010), and in Germany, Austria, Switzerland (January 14 2011). The album will hit the stores in the rest of the world on February 7 2011. So far this long awaited label debut CD was given nothing but praise by the international press.

Currently VICTIMIZER's line-up is as follows:

Andrew van der Schaft -Guitars
Chris Thompson Rossal - Bass
Arnold Oude Middendorp - Vocals
Richard Sastra - Guitars, Backing Vocals
Romeo Gerrits - Drums

Comments Gerard, owner of Deity Down Records: 'For Victimizer as well as for their album 'Tales Of Loss And New Found Serenity', Niels' decision came at the worst possible time and it affected the planning of band's near future severely. I urged the band to find a suitable replacement quickly. Victimizer then came up with Arnold, whom I know from his work with DEVIOUS ('VISION', Deity Down Records, 2009), and who owns one of the most brutal voices to be found in the Low Countries. Arnold wasn't asked to quit Devious, but unfortunately he has."

Dimentianon revamp lineup
2011-01-21
NYC-based extreme metal unit DIMENTIANON, after a slight break from public appearance, have recently revamped the band's lineup and are again booking live appearances for the coming months.

The first confirmed DIMENTIANON appearance for 2011 will see them taking part in a brutal Saturday night show at Brooklyn's deafening The Acheron alongside a collective of other tri-state-based underground metal outfits including Horrifier, Sacrificial Blood, Cain and Brohammer on February 26th. More live actions will be announced in the coming months.

The turbulent, trademark DIMENTIANON style of combining death, black and doom metal elements with eerie atmospherics has been a part of the New York underground scene since the mid '90s (then known as The Forgotten), but really sank its teeth into the public's ears in 2010, with the release of the band's third full-length Collapse The Void. The short but potent release shows the band at their most creative and destructive peak yet, inciting incredible reactions from the underground metal media, and shows the band tackling new approaches to their own "dementia" within the supposed realms of extreme metal.

Neun Welten line-up changes
2011-01-21
Dark folkers Neun Welten are coming up with not so pleasant news as they are experiencing the first meaningful line-up changes in their history. This is the band's statement:

"Because of our forthcoming gigs in the next months, the first ones in a long while, it's time to announce some changes in our line-up ... with mixed feelings!
During the last year our flutist Anja and our drummer Marten decided to leave Neun Welten with a heavy heart, for job-related reasons. Although we fully understand their decision it is a sad occasion for the whole band and we are very thankful for everything they have done to develop Neun Welten and for the great time we all spend together! Although their exit is a sad experience for all of us, it is good to have them still around as friends. For our upcoming shows we are very pleased and grateful to get musical support by Marek of Quellenthal and Micha of Wandar. We are looking forward to play live again and are going to perform songs from the recent album 'Destrunken' together with some old and very new songs!"

In February and March, Neun Welten are going to perform their first gigs in more than three years:

03.02.'11 DE - Leipzig / Die Villa
05.02.'11 DE - Berlin / Wabe
04.03.'11 DE - Naunhof (near Leipzig) / Altes Kranwerk (AKW) (with Triakel)
