According to MZZR Empire spokesman Hans W. Jung, MEZZERSCHMITT's mastermind Herr Schmitt has been remotely injured during an attack alleged to stop the scheduled and annual conference held by MZZR's umbrella organisation SWIRFT just outside Kharkov, Ukraine, on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Herr Schmitt was invited to hold his annual speech and also to demonstrate the new surveillance "cubes" developed by SWIRFT when the attack occurred. There is as of now no further info on what happened or who seems to be responsible for the attack, but in an interview done by a local paper Hans W. Jung accordingly stated that "it was total chaos. I am just glad we managed to escape". On questions directed to Herr Schmitt's current state and the effect this has on the forthcoming album, he quickly replied that "nothing really serious happened but it is a setback of course. The recordings will take place, albeit slightly delayed". MEZZERSCHMITT are set to record their upcoming album early next year for a late 2009 release. | |

CANTATA SANGUI have parted ways with their long-time bassist and singer, Mika A. A. Hyytinen, who retired for family reasons. From now on, the liturgies of the double crown will be performed by Juha Vilhunen (bass) and Kari Husa (male vocals). The band wish Mr. Hyytinen all the best on his new path towards the Grail. The new line-up is as follows:

Tampa, Florida’s godfathers of death metal, CANNIBAL CORPSE have dubbed ‘Evisceration Plague’ as the title to the group’s brand new studio album due out on January, 30 (D/A/CH/I), February, 2 (rest of Europe). ‘Evisceration Plague’ marks the follow up to the bands extremely successful 2006 release KILL (debuted at #170 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart), which has become the fastest selling Cannibal album in the band’s storied career as well as highest selling album since 1996’s Vile (debuted at #151 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart). To capture the speed, ferocity, and musicianship that CANNIBAL CORPSE has become known for the band decided to head back Mana Recording Studios with producer Erik Rutan (who also produced KILL) at the helm.
Bassist Alex Webster comments, “In Cannibal Corpse our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit more challenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album KILL, but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at that same level of heaviness and take it even further. New York, NY: Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of Las Vegas rock band 7th Son to the roster.
7th Son --featuring guitarist/vocalist Christopher Babbitt, guitarist Mikey Cross, bassist Andrew Cushing and drummer Alan Doucette--are a rag tag crew of young turks who formed the band two years ago in their native Sin City. The band recorded three fist-pumping, guitar-driven anthems with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Incubus, Escape the Fate, Story of the Year) earlier this year. Those songs caught the attention of Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R Monte Conner, who quickly signed the band. Of their signing to Roadrunner, Babbitt said, "Our battle cry since we started playing dives in dirty Vegas to being nobodies signed to the biggest hard rock label in the world has been 'Be shred or be dead,' so we have a lot to live up to and Roadrunner was the only label we knew who would have the balls and the vision to stand behind that credo." Cross has a more tongue in cheek outlook on their new label home, saying, "We can't wait to meet some of our esteemed new label-mates and sleep with their girlfriends." Lock up your daughters, girlfriends and wives, because 7th Son have arrived! 7th Son are currently recording their Roadrunner debut in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Baskette manning the boards. On January 5th, 2009 Swedish Death Metal masters VOMITORY will enter Leon Music Studios in Karlstad/Sweden to begin recordings for their seventh (yet untitled) album. Studio owner Rikard Löfgren will once again engineer, partially produce, mix and master the new album like he did with it´s predecessor ‘Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize’!
The new album is scheduled for a May 2009 release through Metal Blade Records in Europe. The release date for the US and the rest of the World is not set yet. | |

Grammy nominated San Diego, California metallers AS I LAY DYING will be filming a string of dates in November for their first ever DVD to be released in the spring of 2009. The DVD will include live performances, backstage footage, interviews, photos, production videos, and a documentary on the group covering everything from the bands humble beginnings to the their massive success as one of today's leading metal acts. AS I LAY DYING will be playing songs off the album ‘Frail Words Collapse’ at the show on November 17th in San Marcos, another show on Nov-19 in the So Cal area that will be announced sometime in the next week on the band's site, and their regular live set at The Grove on November 21st.
The Grove show in Anaheim, CA on Friday November 21st will include support from Bring Me the Horizon, Terror, and Born of Osiris. In conjunction with the show at The Grove, AS I LAY DYING and Metal Blade Records will be hosting a contest where fans can enter for a chance to win tickets to the show. The Invaluable Darkness, a three-disc release of two DVDs with a bonus audio CD from Norway’s symphonic black metal band DIMMU BORGIR, has sold over 1,400 copies in the U.S. since its October 14th release, debuting at no. 5 on the Nielsen SoundScan “Top DVD Music Videos” chart. The top four artists on the chart are (in order): AC/DC, ZZ Top, Eagles, and John Mayer.
The Invaluable Darkness has also entered the Music DVD chart in the band's home country at position No. 1. Indie Distrubution, which distributes DIMMU BORGIR releases in Norway, told Norway's music industry magazine Faro Journalen that it felt pretty comfortable that the DVD would reach the top of the chart. "Yes, we expected it," Espen Solheim Røhne, sales manager at Indie Distribution, admitted. "There are few bands out there that have the same following in Norway as DIMMU BORGIR, and their fans are always early in the shops to buy their product." Røhne told Faro Journalen that the company shipped 2,500 copies of the DVD sets to Norwegian retailers. "We hope to reach 5,000 by Christmas," he said. This marks the second time DIMMU BORGIR has landed at No. 1 in Norway. The band's most recent album, In Sorte Diaboli, topped the chart upon its release in 2007. | |

After years of waiting, SYMPHONIES OF SICKNESS, the second album from British grindcore/death metal legends CARCASS has been reissued and is out now in Europe.
SYMPHONIES OF SICKNESS, CARCASS' breakthrough 1989 album cemented the band's place at the forefront of the emerging grindcore scene, and continued to shock the metal world with its gory imagery. Now available again after years out of print, SYMPHONIES OF SICKNESS is the last of the five CARCASS to be reissued and is out now as a limited edition DualDisc (combined CD and DVD), housed in a deluxe digipak with extra artwork and the original gore artwork inside. It includes 6 previously unreleased bonus tracks, taken from the SYMPHONIES OF SICKNESS demo, along with part 2 of a mini-documentary series entitled THE PATHOLOGIST'S REPORT as bonus video material. Filmed in London and Liverpool at the end of 2007, the documentary consists of interviews with the members of CARCASS - KEN OWEN, BILL STEER, JEFF WALKER and MICHAEL AMOTT - which, when combined with the other four reissued albums, makes up a two and a half hour documentary examining all eras of the band, from their gore-soaked grind beginnings to the more refined, melodic moments of their later output. Central Illinois Thrash-inspired Death metal duo EMBRACE DAMNATION
has inked a deal with Chicago-based label Rotting Corpse Records. The band, featuring Dave Kibler of LIVIDITY, are preparing to enter the studio to record their full-length debut release, "The Glory of a New Darkness" (artist: Ozan Yildirim from Turkey). A live drummer will be added, with the release scheduled for the summer of 2009. Show dates in support of the album are also pending at this time. Here´s an update from GOD DETHRONED singer/guitarist Henri Sattler. “Last week we started tracking down drumtracks for our new album “Passiondale”. With Roel back on the drum throne all speed limits have been broken again. We took a lot of time in order to get the best results ‘cause we want the album to be as tight as possible. Producer Jörg Uken from the Soundlodge studio’s is drummer himself so we actually managed to get some really spectacular drumming on tape.
We also wrote a new song in the studio called “No Survivors” bringing the total of songs to 9. Yesterday we made some heavy crushing guitar sounds and this week we’ll track down the guitars.
