| Evocation to release new album on Halloween |
2008-10-14
|
|
The follow up to the EVOCATION´s highly acclaimed debut-classic ‘Tales From The Tomb’ is entitled ‘Dead Calm Chaos’. The release is scheduled for Halloween 2008. This gem will be available from the start on on both CD and LP! Honorable guests featured on this recording were Anders Björler (AT THE GATES, THE HAUNTED) and legendary Dan Swanö (Ex-BLOODBATH, Ex-EDGE OF SANITY).
The album was recorded by the band in their own studio under the supervising eyes of guitar player Vesa who previously has also been working with SUICIDAL WINDS. First reactions by the German press are nothing short but sensational! Just to mention positions like 3, 5 and 6 in the soundchecks of HEAVY (11 out of 12 points in the review) ROCK HARD (9 out of 10 points in the review) and METAL HAMMER (6 out of 7 points in the review) Plus we are very proud to announce that the new album by our Swedish Old School Death masters has reached the pole position and is “Album Of The Month” in the November/December-issue of LEGACY!!! Additionally ‘Dead Calm Chaos’ received 15 out of 15 points and was called “Best Sweden Death album of the year!”. After a year of songwriting and playing several great live-shows, for example in WACKEN, at the JALO METALLI in Finland, as Headliners of ZABBADUSCHDER-Friday, the NRW DEATH FEST and finally at the awesome WAY OF DARKNESS 3, the results of those mags seem to be the first well deserved earnings to reach the next level for the band from Borås. Congrats boys!!!! Here´s the tracklist of ‘Dead Calm Chaos’: 1. In the Reign of Chaos 2. Silence Sleep 3. Angel of Torment (Featuring Anders Björler of At the Gates/The Haunted) 4. Boundead 5. | Madina Lake announce album title |
2008-10-14

|
New York, NY: Chicago alt rockers Madina Lake are pleased to announce Attics to Eden as the title of their second full-length for Roadrunner Records. The band is currently holed up in New Jersey's House of Loud Studio, working diligently on the pre-production stages of the album. David Bendeth (Paramore, Underoath, Hawthorne Heights) is set to produce and mix Attics to Eden.
Attics to Eden follows up the band's 2007-released debut, From Them, Through Us, To You. Madina Lake –comprised of vocalist Nathan Leone, bassist Matthew Leone, guitarist Mateo Camargo and drummer Dan Torelli—lived on the road in support of the album, logging countless miles on their tour van, performing everywhere from pizza joints and basement parties to the second stage of 2007's Projekt Revolution Tour and last summer's Warped Tour, cultivating a core of fans so dedicated that to call them "rabid" would be an understatement. Nathan Leone sheds a little light on the recording process, saying, "After spending the last three months at home in Chicago shaping songs, we're finally tracking our second record. The record's title is Attics to Eden because, lyrically, most of the tracks explore different ways to find psychological refuge in a world that is moving faster than ever. It also serves as the second installment in the story of Madina Lake." Regarding the band's choice of producer, Leone says, "We picked David Bendeth because his track record implies that he has the gift of seeing a band's vision through. For as many hits as he has, his focus lies more on the personality, individual character and musical ambition of artists, as opposed to chasing radio or trends. That is exactly in line with our philosophy, so were expecting a solid match. We are absolutely ecstatic to share this with as many people as possible." Roadrunner expects to release Attics to Eden in 2009.

Earache Records is proud to announce the signing of Toronto, Canada's CAULDRON to a multi-album worldwide deal.
The high energy traditional heavy metal three piece have built a steady following while producing a fresh heavy metal sound built out of a passion and love for the genre, and a deep understanding of the elements that go into making memorable straight-up metal music. Having already issued the 'INTO THE CAULDRON' EP to underground acclaim, the band is currently putting the finishing touches to their first full length, due for release in early 2009. The band's sound encompasses all the best elements of classic metal, with nods to old school NWOBHM and a focus on stand out riffs and sung vocals. Commenting on the band's new label home, CAULDRON vocalist/bassist JASON DECAY says: "Its pretty alright. I always thought Earache was the best name for a record label, and as a kid I was actually a little disappointed when I found out that I didn't come up with it! But at least I get to be a part of it after all! Its also nice to be a part of a catalogue that includes some of my favourite records, like Carcass' 'Heartwork' and Cathedral's 'Forest of Equilibrium'. I'm right into it!" CAULDRON's Earache Records debut, 'CHAINED TO THE NITE', is scheduled for an early 2009 release.

Chicago deathcore heavyweights OCEANO entered the studio on October 3rd to begin recording one of the angriest albums ever.
ANDREW MIKHAIL, guitarist for OCEANO - the band who famously had a series of photos BANNED from MySpace for being too gruesome - comments on the band's first week in the studio: "Things have been going great here. Drums are done and we're currently in the process of mixing them, then we begin the rest of the tracking next week. So for now, we're lifting weights, booking tours, and playing N64 while we wait. It's still a little early to give a lot of update, but the album is coming along smoothly and sounding great." And just incase you had any doubts about it, MIKHAIL finishes, "We're most definitely shooting for this CD to be one of the heaviest and darkest CDs around!" DEPTHS, the debut album from OCEANO, is being recorded with producer JOEY STURGIS (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, MY CHILDREN MY BRIDE) at The Foundation Studios in Connersville, Indiana, and will feature artwork from COLIN MARKS (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, ABORTED, WHITECHAPEL). Due to be released in early 2009, DEPTHS will contain 13 tracks of the angriest deathcore cuts ever committed to record, alongside a limited edition bonus DVD, and will also be available as a limited edition version with 2 exclusive bonus tracks. | Scar Symmetry announce new vocalists |
2008-10-10
|
|
SCAR SYMMETRY have announced some new decisions among the band: "When things went from bad to worse and we realized that it wasn't going to work out with Christian, we were faced with two options; either calling it quits, or seizing the opportunity to take the next logical step in the evolution of our sound. We chose the latter. We've used both growls and clean vocals in our music since day one, and with each album we've pushed the envelope of what you can do vocally in a metal band to the point where a lot of the songs on "Holographic Universe" would be hard if not impossible to sing live. So the question is: Is it really possible to push the vocals even further and manage to perform everything live? The answer is YES! Instead of hiring a new singer, we decided - some of you might already have figured it out by now - to recruit TWO singers! The idea of having two vocalists in the band is something that's been in the back of our minds for a long time, and after auditioning and rehearsing with two of Sweden's best vocalists we're thrilled, excited, stoked-beyond-belief! So let us introduce you to...
ROBERTH KARLSSON - lead growl vocals and backing clean vocals Roberth was our first choice for the growling position. Jonas once called him "Sweden's finest growler", which is no overstatement. Roberth has been involved in many bands throughout the years, among others EDGE OF SANITY and FACEBREAKER. LARS PALMQVIST - lead clean vocals and backing growl vocals Roberth introduced us to his long-time friend Lars, who blew us away with his powerful-yet-beautiful voice. You can imagine our excitement when we learned that he's a fantastic growler as well! Despite his amazing talents he's virtually unknown to the metal public, which just might change as of today! We are very fortunate to have found these guys. They bring to the band not only their incredible skills but also a positive vibe we haven't had for some time. We've posted a videoclip from when we auditioned Roberth and Lars, as a little teaser... Yes it might come across as we were drunk the entire time, which probably is very close to the truth. Enjoy!
| Drudkh sign with Season Of Mist |
2008-10-08
|
|
Season of Mist is proud to announce the freshly inked deal the label signed with play Slavonic heathen metal band DRUDKH. Their cinematic, folk-influenced music focuses on a strong atmosphere with a lot of feeling, and the lyrical contents are about nature mysticism, seasons, philosophy, Ukrainian mythology, legends and history. Many of the band's lyrics are derived from the works of nineteenth and twentieth centuries Ukrainian poets.
DRUDKH decided to issue this one public statement only. They will also in future stick to their general rule, which means that DRUDKH will not be giving interviews nor make use of any internet platform: "During all its history, the band followed a 'no photos, no interviews, no website, no gigs' policy, which was nobly accepted by DRUDKH's new label Season of Mist. The absence of any comments or information from DRUDKH's side gave an opening to a few ignorant internet warrior-fans to spread rumors, that the band embraces some extreme political views. This is absolutely misleading and a total profanation, since there is nothing in DRUDKH's music or lyrics that would suggest any political outlook. DRUDKH praise individualism, self-improvement and estrangement from modern values." DRUDKH's upcoming album, whose title will be announced shortly, is set to an early 2009 release.

For too long, the city of Birmingham, UK has failed to celebrate what is rightfully theirs - to claim the city as the home of heavy metal. Now, 40 years after the term "heavy metal" was coined, it's time to start celebrating!
The city of Birmingham has spawned arguably some of the most influential bands of all time - bands who defined genres and influenced generations. To celebrate this, art and music promoters CAPSULE are launching a new project named "Home of Metal", with the aim of creating the first digital archive of music, memorabilia and more, to tell the story of this city's unique musical heritage. Along with such legends as BLACK SABBATH, JUDAS PRIEST and LED ZEPPELIN, EARACHE RECORDS' very own early signings NAPALM DEATH and GODFLESH will be featured in this special tribute to metal and the place where it all started. "Home of Metal" will be launching at Wolverhampton Art Gallery on Saturday 25th October, from 10:00am to 4:30pm, where rare artefacts from the early days of NAPALM DEATH's and GODFLESH's careers will be exhibited. Fans are invited to come along with memorabilia and share their personal experiences of the bands, all of which will go towards the new digital archive. Further open days will take place on Thursday 6th November at New Art Gallery in Walsall and Saturday 7th February at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Each open day will be hosted by Kerrang! Radio DJ Johnny Doom, accompanied by special guests from the music industry, and entrance for the events is free! For more information on "Home of Metal", head to www.homeofmetal.com

Dutch Death Metal Grandmasters GOD DETHRONED have finished the songwriting for their upcoming new album!
“”We're ready ! We finished 8 songs for our new album "Passiondale". Those of you who are fans of our "Bloody Blasphemy" and "The Lair of the White Worm" albums can take a deep breath now and wait out the time until the album comes out. Cause this motherfucker brings back all the good things you liked so much. Bringing back Roel to the band after all these years was a good idea. His drumming gave us the right vibe to come up with the stuff we needed for so long. We're really happy about the results and we can't wait to start tracking down those songs. We start recording on October 13th in the Soundlodge Studio's in Germany. The album is a concept album about World War I and the song titles are: ‘Under A Darkening Sky’, ‘Behind Enemy Lines’, ‘Drowning in Mud’, ‘No-Man's Land’, ‘Passiondale’, ‘Poison Fog’, ‘Fallen Empires’ and ‘Artifacts of the Great War’. Stay tuned for more news 'cause we have some more interesting stuff in the works... "Passiondale" is to be expected for release in April/May 2009!

Joacim of GENERAL SURGERY sent us an update about the band 's upcoming album recording :
“ As of today (2nd of October), we have once again entered the filthy and repulsive confinements of Off Beat Studio to record our 2nd still untitled full length album. 20 songs will be recorded, and we'll pick the best material to surface on the release. Some new titles to be included are Plexus Necrosis, Exotoxic Septicity, Necronomics and Ichor. Due to scheduling conflicts, the new effort will be self-produced and will not utilize the services of Fred Estby as previously reported. We hope to finish the recording by mid November and the release is scheduled for Feb/March 2009. More news on the album and possible sound snippets as we progress. To backtrack a little, we want to say thanks to everybody that came out to our shows during the summer and a special thanks goes out to the crowd at the Brutal Assault fest which was our biggest yet. Thanks for the gore support! For the 3rd year in a row, we'll play at Tantogården in Stockholm with Regurgitate and special guests Gadget. The date is Friday 31st of October. Tickets are available now at Repulsive Records and Sound Pollution.”

Switzerland’s MUMAKIL have recently entered the studio to begin work on their Relapse debut.
The follow-up to MUMAKIL’s debut full-length Customized Warfare, is being recorded in the band’s hometown of Geneva. MUMAKIL drummer Sebastien Schacher recently checked-in from the studio with an update: “We have finished with the drum, bass, and guitar tracks and will begin with vocals next. This new album will be even more brutal, faster, and "punkier" than our first CD Customized Warfare. There will be less "groovy-brutal-death" parts but more dark and crusty riffs supported by fast blast-beat attacks. We rather chose to propose the punk and brutal side of our music. The album will be titled "Behold the Failure" and it will be a kind of an anthem to our great world in perdition.“ MUMAKIL has written roughly 26 new tracks for Behold The Failure. Advance song titles include “Doomed”, “Brothers In Slavery”, “Black Sheep”, “Wish You The Worst”, “Mass Murder Institution”, and “Pigs On Fire”. Behold The Failure will see a Spring 2009 release date. MUMAKIL has announced a number of November and December tour dates in Switzerland and France. A listing of dates and cities can be found here with more to be announced soon. MUMAKIL has also recently released three new tracks via the Relapse Records Slimewave 7” series and CD compilation.
| Zao recording new album |
2008-10-03
|
|
Legendarily influential heavy music act ZAO is in the studio working on a brand new album, the followup to their 2006 record, The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here. As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis and Daniel Castleman are heading up the proceedings, together with Zao's Scott Mellinger, for what is shaping up to be another monumental ZAO album.
"We simply can not wait for everyone to hear these new songs," says longtime guitarist Mellinger. "We have not been on the road since the Demon Hunter and Throwdown tours in 2006, which has given us plenty of time to get our wits about us and to really concentrate on creating the best batch of material we possibly can." Zao's Where Blood & Fire Bring Rest was recently hailed as "one of the most the most influential albums of 1998" by Alternative Press magazine. That album, which introduced frontman Dan Weyandt to the heavy music scene, and followup Liberate te ex Inferis, which introduced guitarist and songwriter Mellinger, continue to be cornerstone albums to a new generation of bands drawing influence from Zao's dark, passionate and creative music. "Zao is a band that has influenced all types of bands in the heavy music genre, from the Deftones and to my band," offers Lambesis. "I'm very excited be a part of bringing them the production their band has always deserved. This record will be the Zao sound that fans and musicians like myself have been waiting to hear for a long time." The lineup for this ZAO album is the same as The Fear...: Longtime co-conspirators Weyandt and Mellinger alongside bass player Martin Lunn and drummer Jeff Gretz (From Autumn to Ashes). "Recording Jeff Gretz's drums was the most relaxing and professional studio experience I've ever been a part of," boasts Lambesis. "That guy is a true pro and the standard by which I will judge every other drummer I record at Lambesis Studios in the future." ZAO's two Ferret Music albums, The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here (2006) and The Funeral Of God (2004), are among the biggest selling and most important in the band's impressive catalog. Funeral was produced by Erik Rachel (Every Time I Die) and The Fear... was recorded by Steve Albini (Nirvana). The band has toured with In Flames, Trivium, Shadows Fall and in the past took bands like Underoath and Unearth on tour as their opening acts. "If the melodic end of the kingdom has been taken by Killswitch Engage, then the extreme end belongs to Zao, no question." -- Metal Hammer ZAO's new album will be released in 2009.
