Pain forced to cancel shows
2011-10-11
Due to problems with the local promoter, PAIN are unfortunately forced to cancel the two Portuguese shows on the 1st of November (Porto) and the 2nd of November (Lisbon).

Main man Peter Tägtgren explains the situation as follows:
“We're very sorry to announce that we have been forced to cancel our two shows in Portugal on November 1st in Porto an November 2nd in Lisbon. As some of you may have noticed it's been difficult to find out when, where and how to get tickets for the shows. The local promoter has been hard to reach, and now we found out that he has cancelled one of the shows without even talking to us first or letting us know after. Because of these uncertain conditions we decided to go out with this announcement. We were really looking forward to end the European part of the tour in Lisbon, and we're really sad that we can't come to Portugal this time.”

Behemoth shows sold out
2011-10-11
Poland's kings of blackened death metal, BEHEMOTH, recently performed the first of a handful of dates leading up to the Metal Hammer Full of Hate Tour that kicks off Hamburg Germany February 9th.

BEHEMOTH frontman Nergal had this to say about the sold out shows: "Magick is back, my friends! We have our first 'rebirth' shows under our belt, moreover, both Poznan and Danzig were totally sold out and crowd's reactions went beyond anyone's expectations!

We have a special guest, Krzysztof Azarewicz introducing the band on stage, thanx mate! You are a true friend! Behemoth would like to thank every person that came down and shown their support.

It can't be underrated. We have few more shows to go…and then we're gonna take a deep breath before striking back the European stages in February. This is the ultimate manifest of our unconquerable will! Join us!"

Expect more tour info to be released shortly.

Nuclear working on new album
2011-10-11
Chilean thrash band Nuclear is currently working on their 4th studio album, yet untitled. According to Nuclear.cl, a new writing process has begun for the follow-up of their 2010 album "Jehovirus" released via Australis Records / Sick Bangers Distribution. Promoting their latest release the band did a 1-month tour over Europe and received countless reviews from the specialized media allowing "Jehovirus" to be the top selling album of the band nowadays.

The band also issued that regardless of being at the starting point for this new record, it seems that it is going to be a very fast and dynamic album. They have scheduled to finish the composition around March-April 2012 and go to the studio right after that. "We have an idea on how the album might be, but it's too soon to tell 100%. Either way, fast tempos and strong criticism will always be included as ingredients in our recipe"

Hailing from the streets of Brooklyn, New York, HULL has yet again emerged with a creation to outlive the ages with latest saga, Beyond The Lightless Sky. Digging further into the past, the Mayan epic takes the listener through a division of two brothers and the struggles that they are faced with. One finds salvation amongst the stars and the wisdom of a stranger, while the other is mesmerized with the bloodthirsty belief of sacrifice and self mutilation. In silence lies a realm that exists outside the plane of fear.

Alternative 4 to release new album
2011-10-01
The Brink is the new album by former Anathema mastermind Duncan Patterson, who set up the band Alternative 4 as a return to the use of electric instruments and more of a rock format for the first time since quitting Anathema in 1998.
Joining him are Argentinian drummer Mauro Frison and Mark Kelson on guitar and vocals, better known as the mainman of Australian rockersThe Eternal.
The rhythm section and piano parts were recorded in Cherry Lane studios in the heart of the Republic of Ireland, which has arguably the best live drum room in the country. Guitars, vocals, and synths recorded at NO 13 studio, Melbourne, Australia. And additional parts were finished off at TDA Studios, Lisbon, Portugal where the album was mixed.
Lyrically, The Brink takes a swipe at how a large proportion of people are not thinking for themselves, businessmen and general parasitic people who are like flies around shit at the smell of ‘success’, where peoples general wellbeing is taken out of the equation. Sheeple who need to be told what to think, which TV to buy, what ‘news’ to believe, what to eat, what to listen to, and put ‘celebrities’ on a pedestal without really knowing why. Patterson has documented some personal experiences with the music business and media brainwashing, obsessive ‘fans’ and the unhealthy attention that goes with it. Society is being dumbed-down at an alarming rate. Music is losing its value to a younger generation who know no better than to just follow. The front row at gigs these days is a sea of mobile camera phones, often being watched through the camera screen itself, with the owners anxious to get home to upload it onto the internet. The general sense on this album is the hope that we are on the brink of change. Or as the final lines read “This could go either way, it probably will..”.

Norway's Shining to release live album
2011-10-01
Experimental Norwegian act SHINING will release Live Blackjazz in North America on January 17th. For the first time ever, the raw energy of the band's legendary live performances has been captured on tape in a setting organized solely by the band itself. Produced by the multi-talented front man Munkeby, and backed by the same mixing and mastering team as on their previous Blackjazz studio album, we could not get a truer version of what Blackjazz is meant to be. Straight from the horse's mouth, this is the new standard that bands will strive to match for the next 10 or 20 years to come.

"This is basically the 'Greatest Hits' album we have always dreamed of, now beautifully combined with breathtaking film footage vibrating with power. It feels good to know that people can now truly experience how much fire and effort we pour into our live shows. It could not have been better!" - Jørgen Munkeby

With all the blackness and all the humor, Live Blackjazz is the perfect display of a new genre rising. With all its technicality and all it' rough shooting from the hip. With the trademark meltdown guitar tones and the Bonham-reborn-as-an-android drumming. Finally we have the proof: the saxophone is the new Devil's instrument.

Produced by Munkeby

Mixed by Sean Beavan (Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Slayer)

Mastered by Tom Baker (Marilyn Manson, David Lynch, Nine Inch Nails)

Graded by John Cryer (Muse)

Film directed by Anders Børresen

SHINING's 2010 release Blackjazz was nominated for a Grammy in the band's home country, where the album reached #9 on the pop charts. The group recently performed at the Wacken Open Air festival and will support Devin Townsend -- with whom they also performed earlier this year -- next month in London. The New York Times has called them a "radioactive alloy of jazz and black metal," while All Music Guide called Blackjazz "an astonishing blend of industrial, metal, free jazz and raw electronic noise...the kind of album artists will be striving to equal for years to come."

Scarlet Records launch Bakerteam Records
2011-09-22
Scarlet Records has created and launched its own partner label, Bakerteam Records, which aims in discovering and offering support to the best talents of the hard rock & heavy metal international scene. The new label will benefit from all the distribution channels and promotional tools that have made Scarlet one of the most established labels out there, focusing primarily on up and coming sensations that aspire worldwide exposure.

The first two Bakerteam releases will be debut albums from Israeli band Red Rose (25 October 2011) and Italian band The Ritual (14 November 2011).

Red Rose blends Melodic Hard Rock, Classic Heavy Metal and Pomp Rock keyboards in an elegant and refined shape in the vein of Royal Hunt. Recorded at Jailhouse Studios with renowned Danish producer Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Jorn), ‘Live The Life You've Imagined’ is a thrilling and memorable record from the first to the very last song.

Always in perfect balance between aggression and melody, The Ritual is a Power/Thrash Metal monster “contaminated” by modern Metal gods such as Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine. ‘Beyond The Fragile Horizon’, graced with a beautiful cover artwork by Nerve Design (Threshold, Nile, Legion Of The Damned, Vision Divine), is the Heavy Metal revelation of the year thanks to the contagious vehemence of its ten songs produced and mixed by Federico Pennazzato (Sadist, Secret Sphere) and mastered by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Empyrios).

The recordings will take place from mid-October on in the Twilight Hall Studios, Grefrath under the time-proven direction of Charlie Bauerfeind (SAXON, BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL, HELLOWEEN et al.). The Amity Affliction sign with Roadrunner
2011-09-22
New York, NY: Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of The Amity Affliction, easily one of the most head-turning and exciting hard rock bands to come barreling out of Australia. The band has scorched a trail Down Under and is now poised to stake its claim in the U.S. Roadrunner will release Youngbloods digitally on Oct. 25 and the band will head back into the studio in early 2012 to record the follow up with Youngbloods producer Machine (Lamb of God, Cobra Starship, Suicide Silence.)

The Amity Affliction's humble origins date back six years ago in a small town in Queensland, Australia. With an industrial sized bucket of elbow grease, the band became a fixture on the local touring circuit. The Amity Affliction quickly ascended the ranks and became one of the best-loved bands in Oz. Armed with cheeky song titles, a party attitude and the type of aggressive and forward- thinking metal that will simultaneously make you think while putting hair on your chest, The Amity Affliction deliver a poignant message encased in mosh-worthy anthems.

"Ever since I can remember in Amity we've been dreaming big: big tours, big shows, big crowds, but never in our wildest dreams did we ever think something this big would come around," frontman Joel Birch said. "Signing to Roadrunner worldwide is almost beyond a dream come true, because there's no way any of us would have ever dreamed of being able to achieve something this monumental."

Birch continued, "We're proud to be added to such an incredible roster of bands, and having already spent time with some of the team at the label, we're excited to become a part of the larger Roadrunner family. This is a massive step forward for us as a band, and one we're going to be pouring all our energy into in the future."

The band's most recent album Youngbloods debuted at No. 6 on the Album Charts in Australia and went on to get unprecedented nominations for Best Hard Rock Performance at both the ARIA and IMA Awards. Following extensive touring overseas and an early evening slot on Soundwave 2011, the band returned to headline Australian in late May, selling 15,000+ tickets over the course of eight shows, including 4500 tickets at their Brisbane homecoming at the outdoor Riverstage arena. Youngbloods was voted Best Album of 2011 on Triple J’s Short Fast Loud program and in Blunt Magazine, where they notched for their third cover in 18 months. That issue lands this coming October.

Clearly, The Amity Affliction have canvassed their native land. Now it's time for the rest of the world to catch on.

The Way of Purity to release new album
2011-09-20
After less than one year following to the release of debut album "Crosscore", TWOP will record the awaited follow up during this summer. Tentative release schudule is set for December 2011 for Japan and January 2012 for Europe.

The band itself issued a statement:

"during the summer we started recording our new album between Europe and USA. Our second "chapter" will be titled "Equate" and will feature 11 new songs (2 bonus tracks will be added on the Japanese version). We truly believe that this very long and complex songwriting process has lead us to a new vision of our music, due to both introduction of massive melodic parts and claustrophobic explosions of violence and darkness. The extreme mix of DoomCore and New Wave is the key to understand "EQUATE" and everyone not looking far will fail. Depressive moods are created to succumb in front of the violence of reaction: every song structure is meant
to have this further signification. A big work has been done on lyrics too and our message is becoming even more effective day by day. Number "11" in the cover artwork represents 1 against 1 so animal against human, the album is titled EQUATE. The Anti-Human symbols come from a long study and have been trasmitted to us by the powers of nature.
