I Shalt Become recording new album
2010-01-30
A long-legendary name in black metal, I SHALT BECOME are currently working on a new studio album for MORIBUND RECORDS, with the band slated to enter the studio next month. As yet untitled, I SHALT BECOME's new album for MORIBUND will be their second full-length for the label (the band's cult Wanderings demo was reissued by the label in 2006, with 2008's Requiem the band's first post-retirement recording) and also the first to feature real, live drums. Mainman S. Holliman reports, "Honestly, I'm not sure what I can say about it as it's genuinely unlike anything else I've heard," while drummer A. Scherer offers that it's "atmospheric, orchestral plague metal for those whom ride gallant on black steed from the foul, gaping maw of Hell itself to wage War on ignorant mortals" or just "really fucking good."

I SHALT BECOME's new, as-yet-untitled MORIBUND album is tentatively slated for release during the second half of the year, with a late summer release more likely.

Bonded By Blood to record new album
2010-01-30
Pomona, CA thrashers, BONDED BY BLOOD will be heading into the studio next week to record the long-awaited follow-up to their 2008 debut, FEED THE BEAST. On February 1st, the young thrash disciples will begin their sessions in Phoenix, AZ to record their new album at Highland Recorders. They will later migrate to nearby Stealth Sound for additional work. Producing the record will be Ralph Patlan (WHITE WIZZARD, MEGADETH, UFO).

The members of BONDED BY BLOOD cannot wait to show the world how much of a step forward they've made with their new material. According to frontman, Jose "Aladdin" Barrales, "the album is a bit more thought out than our prior attempt." Guitarist, Alex Lee adds, "this album is a lot more technical and heavier than our previous."

The new album will mark the recording debut of new bassist, Jerry Garcia. "I'm really excited to record my debut album with BONDED BY BLOOD;" says the band's newest member. "With Ralph on our side, the outcome will be a heavy, technical speed metal explosion in your ears."

That explosion is exactly what Ralph Patlan is setting out to accomplish in producing the album. No stranger to taking artists to the limits of their potential, he is thrilled to start working with BONDED BY BLOOD. "I've heard the album demos and I'm very excited to start working with them. These guys are on point and these songs will have major balls to them."

BONDED BY BLOOD's new album is tentatively scheduled for release in Spring 2010.

Belgium's Inocculta is no more
2010-01-30
Every story has an end. Mid-2009, Inocculta split up after eight years of presence on the Belgian metal scene. From first black metal demos to its latest rock/metal album, from first concerts in local bars to the Metal Blast Festival at Botanique, Brussels, the band evolved, improved, trying to remain faithful to its first ambition: producing sincere music, with expanded influences.

Today, the paths of Inocculta's members separated. Geographical distance between members, evolution in musical tastes, busy professional life, unceasing line-up issues... : reasons explaining the end of Inocculta are numerous. This end does not come from relationship problems between founding members, who managed to remain bound together until the end.

We put on our MySpace (streaming, http://www.myspace.com/inocculta) and our website (download, http://www.inocculta.com/en/mp3) all songs from our album "Before Withering" (recorded in 2007) as well as its artwork (http://www.inocculta.com/en/mp3), for those who followed us all these years and for those wishing to discover us today. It's kind of our musical testament. Despite its flaws, this album is the best we did with Inocculta and we believe it deserves your listening.

Commandment return
2010-01-30
In 1987 the US-Powermetalheads COMMANDMENT from Chicago won the Z-Rock Radio demo contest. Airplay, a tour, a label deal, good critics followed and the guys became fast a cultact with their album "Engraved in Stone". In 1989 another demo called "No Mercy" was recorded. So the points were set, but then the responsible label went bankrupt and the recordings never made it over the rough-mix stadium. Due to the starting Death Metal wave no new label was found and the band split up in 1990.

20 years later the old recordings are back. They were already released in a remastered version on a handnumbered 525 Vinyl-Edition in August 2009. Now the release on CD follows. In the meantime more songs were found and these ones are added as hidden tracks.

There is no musical change compared with "Engraved in Stone". Fantastic, pure US-Power Metal is ruling. With their work the band created their own niche within the US-Metal sector. It's hard to make comparisons, but you can think in the direction of GLACIER and APOLLO RA. Anyway, the trademark of the band is of course the incredible voice of David Nava, which sadly deceased in the meantime. So this release is dedicted to him, without doubt one of the most gifted singers in 80ies and 90ies.

Pandea to release debut album
2010-01-30
„Soylent Green“, the classic end time-movie of 1973, is the scenario in which mastermind Dan Uhden (MIND ODYSSEY, MERLIN) together with Mario Le Mole (MIND ODYSSEY, MERLIN) put the debut of PANDEA. Like in the albums of AYREON many HardRock/Metalheroes of the old GDR-Scene supports the concept-album. Beside of Mario Le Mole, Norbert Schmidt (FORMEL1), Jacky Lee Man (PHARAO) and Norbert „Klempo“ Bode (BIEST) are lending the characters their voice. Instrumental guest performances are done f.i. by the well known guitarist Victor Smolski (MIND ODYSSEY, RAGE).

The Heavy Metal Opera is consisting of 12 acts and celebrates epic and melodic Heavy Metal with changing moods and powerful hymnic refrains. Through skilful varying from euphoric to dark moments a majestic and vivid atmosphere is build up, which don’t stand one second behind of those from other bands like AYREON, SAVATAGE and GAMMA RAY. Beside of the concept it contains some ear-catchers for the willing ears of Melodic
Metal fans.

Through Pure Steel Records the album is now released on 26th February and it’s a powerful statement of the old guard of Eastern Germany. Live-performance is also planned.

Complete Guestlist:

Buzz Dee – guest vocals
Norbert Schmidt – guest vocals
Norbert „Klempo“ Bode – guest vocals
Ille Illgner – guest vocals
Jacky Lee Man – guest vocals
Sascha the Pascha – guest vocals - piano

Victor Smolski– additional guitars

Trollfest in the studio
2010-01-30
TROLLFEST, the Oslo-based black metallers who describe their music as True Norwegian Balkan Black Metal, recently entered the Strand Studio in Oslo to record the band’s fourth full-length album and have released an update on the proceedings via a video. In what has become something of a tradition with TROLLFEST, the whole recording process is once again being filmed by Manskow Productions and the first update contains interviews with various band members, as well as clips from the studio that give a taste of what can be expected from the new album. The band will be looking for a new label to release the album. The video can be seen on the band’s MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/trollfest

With a line up that includes musicians from bands as varied as URGEHAL, PANTHEON I, UNTIME, MELCH, HALLUCINATIONS, POWERSWORD and SARKOM, TROLLFEST’s members bring with them not only a wealth of experience and the skill to make use of instruments like the accordion, the banjo and the saxophone, but also a sense of diversity that allows the band to create a sound that is distinctly its own. Whilst “True Norwegian Balkans Black Metal” goes some way towards describing the TROLLFEST sound - hinting as it does at the extreme end of metal, with a good pinch of local traditional folk - it doesn’t really go the whole way towards capturing the sense of fun and sheer exuberance with which the band tackles everything it does, whether it involves playing in the studio or performing live.

Commenting on the new album, guitarist Mr Seidel said: “As things stand now, and of course baring any unexpected inspiration that might come to us during the consumption of large quantities of alcoholic beverages, the new album will consist of nine tracks. Tracks, which, incidentally, we consider to be the most exotic tunes we’ve produced to date, and which, needless to say, will bear the all hallmarks of the usual over-the-top madness that the fans have come to love and expect from TROLLFEST!”

More information about TROLLFEST can be found on the band’s MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/trollfest

Throne of Katarsis confirmed for Inferno
2010-01-27
The unholy black metal legion of Infamroth, Vardalv, Sanrabb and Godhate will enter the stage at John Dee, Friday the 2nd of April.

Spawned in 2002 the unholy Norwegian black metal cult THRONE OF KATARSIS still hasn't changed the code: cold and atmospheric occult black art, combining the rawness with the epic. The 2004 demo "Unholy Holocaustwinds" took the underground by a surprise with it's hateful atmosphere, leading to a deal with Candlelight Records. Two full lengths followed; "An Eternal Dark Horizon" and "Helvete - Det Iskalde Mørket" were both highly acclaimed, and again Vardalv and Infamroth managed to capture the Norwegian black metal spirit. During one of the European tours, the Throne performed their ritual at the Dutch Sathanas In Gloriam festival, this obscure footage can be seen at the true underground DVD named "In Nomine Dei Nostri Satanus".

After being a duo for 7 unholy years the band recruited Sanrabb of Gehenna last year, and the work with their third album has begun. Now, returning to John Dee, Throne Of Katarsis will again share their views regarding the weak men of light, and the pest that's among us. The Winds Of Blasphemy Have Returned!

Sonata Arctica confirmed for Bloodstock
2010-01-27
With a line up already boasting some of the top names in metal, including CHILDREN OF BODOM, FEAR FACTORY, BEHEMOTH, and DEVIN TOWNSEND, the latest addition to the BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010 line up further solidifies an already amazing cast. Finnish melodic metal masters SONATA ARCTICA will be making their only UK festival appearance of 2010 at this year’s 10th Anniversary of BLOODSTOCK. Says keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg:

“Bloodstock is one of the best festivals we've played at in Britain. I can't wait to hit the stage once again as well as check out some of the other bands on this years killer line-up”

Having consistently topped the charts in their homeland throughout their career, last year’s “Days Of Grays” album was rapturously received by the UK, seeing the band shake off their cult status in this country and selling out London’s Islington Academy, causing the UK Rock press to take notice. With powerful and perfectly executed live shows, their set at this year’s BLOODSTOCK will be a treat for any true fan of metal, and one we look forward to immensely.

Soilwork reveal new album title
2010-01-26
Swedish modern metal godfathers SOILWORK just issued the following new update:

"What up people? After a long but intense absence, i'm back giving you a little report on what's going on in the SOILWORK camp. We have just wrapped up the last songs on the new record and I have a constant smile on my face. The title of the new album will be "THE PANIC BROADCAST".
I'm so stoked to record this new album and I feel it's gonna be quite a challenge for everybody in the band. So how's it sounding? Here's my personal take: I feel it's bigger than life to use an old cliché, but seriously, if any of you for some reason have missed some of that intricate riffing that made SOILWORK unique, won't have to wait very long. I feel this record is very playful and we're not cutting down on anything, no "is this too much information" -consideration, no "less is more", just pure musical joy with no boundaries, THAT'S to me what it's all about. Obviously there's gonna be some surprises like always but giving every member of this band the freedom to go apeshit, will make this record a heavy and naturally catchy one. More solos? -Check, Insane riffing?-Check, Melodic vocals?-Check, Screamy vocals?-Check, Progressive keyboards?-Check, Best metal drummer in the world?-Check, will Flink dance while recording his bass tracks, like they were nothing?-Check. Drums are being recorded in Asheville NC, since past saturday. Keep your eyes open for an online studio report, join us and watch every step of the new album taking form! "THE PANIC BROADCAST" IS UPON US!

Cheers / Speed"
