Saille re-sign with code666
2011-09-20
Belgian "Neoclassical Black Metal" band SAILLE have inked a new multi-album deal with code666 (part of the Aural Music Group).

The band, who are inspired by the legends of European Black metal, formed in the summer of 2008 by Keyboard player Dries to create the music he was fond of (symphonic black metal with a threatening feel, in the style of Tartaros, Limbonic Art and Keep of Kalessin) Dries started writing several songs of which some contained remnants of Dries’ former band Mortifer. It was thus a logical choice to cooperate with former Mortifer vocalist/guitarplayer Jonathan Vanderwal. After contacting drummer Gert Monden of In-Quest and text-writer Filip Dupont of Gorath, the further development of songs could proceed. with the help from ReinieR of Fleshmould/Shumcot studio and several other musicians the recordings for the first album “Irreversible Decay” started at the end of 2009. SAILLE's debut album, "Irreversible Decay", was issued in February 2011 through code666 with worldwide critical acclaim.

SAILLE mainman Dries Gaerdelen commented on the new deal: "We are very proud to be working with code666 again. They supported us since the very beginning and it is important for us to have such a renowned label with us. We admire several bands that this label works with and look forward to releasing our second album under the code666 mark. We are also working on a special tour package for April 2012 together with other Belgian bands, more info here: www.blackalliance.be"

code666's Emiliano Lanzoni stated: "SAILLE are great musicians: these guys have great musical talent, great style, and great attitude. They're a hard-working, motivated bunch of guys and they have what it takes to rise to the top of the current metal scene."

SAILLE are now beginning work on their code666 second album, to be released worldwide in late 2012.

Dark Funeral part with Regain Records
2011-09-20
Ave demons!

Since the question has come up quite a few times in recent months, I guess it is about time we make it all official: Yes, we have left Regain Records.

Time went by and we didn't see any future whatsoever to continue to work with them. At this point in time we have not signed to a new label, but negotiations are currently taking place. And until we have signed a new deal, we are open to any and all offers that comes our way.

Abigal Williams enter the studio
2011-09-20
ABIGAIL WILLIAMS recentlu began recording their third full-length album. The process begins in the band’s new home of Southern California as the band enter Keene Machine Studios with The Faceless’ Michael Keene and band frontman Ken Sorceron engineering. Former ABIGAIL WILLIAMS and Black Dahlia Murder drummer Zach Gibson will be playing on the album, as previous band mate Ken Bedene focuses on The Aborted.

“We are very excited to announce the start of drum tracking for our third full-length. Drummer Zach Gibson will be behind the kit on this record, which is exciting for us because we have not recorded with him since the Legend EP,” states Sorceron. Having recently returned from a short ten date regional tour tightening up their new five-piece line-up, the band’s ranks and sound continue to evolve and this third effort is no different. “Expect some interesting twists and turns once again with this album as we plan to double track some of the drums and some of the compositions are quite lengthy, one even reaching the 15-minute plus range. This will prove to be our most epic material to date,” teases Sorceron as to the direction of the new material. “We plan to video our progress and upload video blogs as we go.”

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will continue recording the new album over the next month, set for completion in late October before embarking on their previously announced North American tour supporting Norway’s legendary Mayhem. The new album has an anticipated January release, followed by additional US tours supporting Dark Funeral and then Deicide.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS September Live Appearances:

9/23/2011 House of Blues - West Hollywood, CA w/ Morbid Angel

Edguy hit the charts
2011-09-20
Edguy has always been a global underground phenomenon. While mainstream media widely ignored the ambitious band, Edguy kept things firmly under control themselves and set out to build up a secret society of fans around the globe. For more than a decade the band has toured the world constantly, having played well over 500 shows in more than fourty countries on four continents. And the global work has come to fruition: Edguy‘s newest album AGE OF THE JOKER has reached a remarkable position #25 in the official worldwide sales Top-50 charts.

The individual chart positions so far read as follows:
Germany #3
Czech Republic #10
Sweden #10
Switzerland #13
UK (Rock) #14
Finland #15
Norway #26
Austria #30
Spain #44
France #63
Japan #74
Italy #79

Lead vocalist Tobias Sammet has issued the following statement:
„We‘re still rehearsing for the tour, we sound fantastic I think. Even the drummer. As to those chart figures: It‘s amazing, Nuclear Blast gave us a fortune to produce this album and it was enough to even buy all sorts of useless things on top of it. When they opened their wallets they did not know we‘d come up with the best album since Back In Black. And now they even get some of their money back, fantastic! It seems like the assholes who dislike the album are just a minority (of maybe 6.9297 billion people worldwide, but that‘s a different story - it just proves that a lot of asses need to be kicked yet and we start the Convincing-the-world-that-Edguy-are-the-kings-of-metal-tour next Thursday in Malmö). Well, number 25 is not too bad, considering that when those figures were ascertained, the album wasn‘t even out in a lot of countries (e.g. Canada, USA...)... Jesus, aren‘t we great? God bless you, especially those who bought the album and also the fuckers who think we‘re a bunch of losers without talent. God loves you all! Bless you and see you on the road! - Tobi Wan Kenobi“

Pain awarded a gold record in Sweden
2011-09-20
Over the years, PAIN has become far more than just Peter Tägtgren’s side project - today, it’s both a well-known and successful band on its own and a recipe for catchy as well as hard electronic metal.

The latest prove for PAIN’s importance in the musical landscape can be found in the fact that their previous album “Cynic Paradise” just reached gold status in Sweden for over 30.000 sold copies!

Mastermind Peter Tägtgren comments:
"Thanks a lot to all the painheads in Sweden for this award! I’m happy to see that one can still sell CDs these days. Other PAIN news are that we are going to record a DVD at our last show of the tour at Debaser Medis in Stockholm on the 13th of November!”

2011-09-20
The following statement has been issued by Norwegian Black Metallers RAGNAROK:

“We confirm that RAGNAROK is ending its collaboration with REGAIN RECORDS and no further albums will be released on the label. We are currently in the process of looking at various offers from labels, but no decision has yet been taken, and if any labels are interested in working with the band they are more than welcome to contact us via our management at patriciathomas@btinternet.com”

Aside from Jontho on drums, the line up today consists of Hans Fyrste (Vocals), DezeptiCunt (Bass and Backing Vox) and Bolverk (Guitars). Napalm Records leave streaming sites
2011-09-20
In light of recent events, we would like to announce that Napalm Records will no longer offer its products via streaming sites such as Spotify, Simfy, etc. As previously reported on various online publications, the income generated through streaming is so insignificant that neither we, as a record company, nor our artists are able to further support this method of distribution. We have absolutely nothing against innovative software or new methods of distribution, but do object to price models that endanger our existence and that of our bands. We hope that our customers and fans will understand the necessity of this decision. If possible, we will continue to offer snippet versions via streaming sites, enabling fans to preview two songs of our current and upcoming releases.

Martyr announce new album details
2011-09-20
Dutch old school metallers MARTYR have posted the first song of their upcoming new album Circle Of 8! Surf over to the landing page at www.metalblade.com/martyr to listen to the title track Circle Of 8 and to check out the pre-order options!

MARTYR is a pure Heavy Metal force from the Netherlands. During the five years that MARTYR was alive and kicking (1982-1987), the band released two albums that are considered cult in the Metal scene of today! ‘For The Universe’ (1985) and ‘Darkness At Time’s Edge’ (1986) are classic Metal, a delight for those who love strong melodies, speedy riffs and a high level of technicality.

In those years, MARTYR appeared on compilation albums from Roadrunner and Metal Blade, was voted Holland’s best new metal band in Aardschok magazine, has toured with several international acts and appeared on Sky Channel’s Monsters Of Rock.

MARTYR disbanded in 1987, but reunited in 2001 to play the Heavy Metal Maniacs festival. Four years later, the band revived almost the complete 1982 line up to play the Headbangers Open Air and Keep It True festival. The flame has been burning again and the band continued to play live ever since. December 2008 MARTYR supported US Shock Rockers Lizzy Borden on their European tour. But also in 2009 and 2010 MARTYR hit the European stages supporting great acts like Flotsam & Jetsam, Vicious Rumors, Jaguar, Evergrey a.o.

In 2009 the first new MARTYR record in almost 25 years has been released. That’s when the new EP ‘Fear’ was coupled with a re-release of the classic ‘For The Universe’ album as a double digipack entitled ‘Fear The Universe’ on Rusty Cage Records (RCR0017).

In 2010 and 2011 MARTYR re-entered the studio between the live shows, by working on the successor for ‘Fear’. A complete new album called ‘Circle Of 8’, which will be released by Metal Blade Records in November 2011 worldwide, will be a significant impulse in MARTYR’s revival. And by signing with Metal Blade again, the clan is back home!

Comments the band: “MARTYR is really pleased to have the new album “Circle Of 8” released by Metal Blade Records. It feels like a reunion with metal friends for us after the “Metal Massacre VI” release in 1986!”

‘Circle Of 8’ contains 11 new tracks and one oldie & fans favourite, ‘Speed Of Samurai’, which has been re recorded.

Track listing Circle Of 8:
1. D.I.
2. Afterlife
3. Art Of Deception
4. Circle Of 8
5. All Warriors Bleed
6. The Uninvited
7. Insensible Scream
8. Scene Of Hell
9. Fake
10. Justified Killing
11. Locked
12. Speed Of Samurai

‘Circle Of 8’ will be released November 4th/7th via Metal Blade Records in Europe!

MARTYR will play a release show on the 4th of November in Club Azotod in De Meern (near Utrecht), Holland. Presale tickets are 8 Euro and two support acts are yet to be announced!

MARTYR live:
04/11/11 – NL – De Meem (near Utrecht) – Club Azotod (release show)

01/12/11 – UK – London – The Underworld

Paradise Lost confirmed for Bloodstock
2011-09-20
BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR has revealed the latest additions to next year’s line up. England’s own masters of misery PARADISE LOST join the 2012 line up - which already boasts ORANGE GOBLIN and ANVIL - to return to BLOODSTOCK’s main stage, having played the first ever outdoor event in 2005. One of the most successful and influential bands the British metal scene has ever produced, PARADISE LOST are true pioneers, with their early blend of death/doom giving way to the more melodic sound that defined the gothic metal genre. Guitarist Greg Mackintosh observes:

"We had the pleasure of playing the first ever Bloodstock Open Air way back in 2005, when it was quite an intimate affair. It's an honour to be asked back to BOA 2012, which looks to be shaping up to be a blinding festival. Since we last played, we have seen BOA grow into the Great British metal festival it is today. We look forward to seeing you all down the front."

With a back catalogue spanning twelve albums over twenty two years - and a DVD set for release before Bloodstock 2012 ("Draconian Times MMXI" features the London show at The Forum on April 1, a documentary from the whole tour, interviews about the history of "Draconian Times" and the two promo videos from their latest album, "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us") - PARADISE LOST are one of the few bands capable of delivering a set that will satisfy both fans of more brutal, death tinged doom with songs such as “Eternal”, “As I Die” and “Gothic”, as well as the melodic, gothic darkness of “Embers Fire”, “Hallowed Land” and “The Last Time”.

Joining them are Swedish Black Metal misanthropists WATAIN, who make their BLOODSTOCK debut at a very special slot on the RONNIE JAMES DIO stage. Festering in the Black Metal underground since 2000, WATAIN’s rise through the ranks has been an impressive one, with Erik Danielsson’s dedication and conviction setting them apart, leading the band to become one of the most prolific acts on the scene today. Of next year’s appearance, the band states:

"The United Kingdom has spawned many a thing inspirational to Watain, be it druidic sorcery, Venom or Judas Priest. Our performances there have always been spiced with a nameless sensation of raw powerand this is the main reason why we have chosen Bloodstock to be one of the very few festival shows we will perform next year. As always, expect something very far from the ordinary."

Famed for their incredibly atmospheric live shows, their set at BOA 2012 will be their biggest UK performance to date, and as such the band are preparing to deliver a suitably memorable set, with a show full of satanic majesty planned, as blood, fire and fierce Black Metal spew out over a dusk covered CATTON HALL.

BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2012 takes place at Catton Hall August 9th - 12th. Four day camping tickets for next year’s event are available now at bloodstock.uk.com for just £90 (plus booking fee) until xmas.

Eluveitie reveal new album title
2011-09-02
Eluveitie has just released a brand new and completely redesigned website, and has taken the occasion to announce the title and production status of their upcoming Album „Helvetios“. From the band's official blog:

"Never resting, we have made good use of the time between the shows of our „Everything Remains“ world tour, and are therefore able to announce that as of today, September 1st, Merlin has begun drum tracking for our new Album titled „Helvetios“ at the Newsound studios in Pfäffikon, Switzerland. We are again working with Tommy Vetterli (CORONER, Ex-KREATOR) who will record drums, guitars and vocals and will also be producing and mixing the record this time around. Most folk instruments and also vocals will be recorded by Anna Murphy & Marco Jencarelli at the Soundfarm studios in Lucerne.

All that's left to say for now is that we are extremely excited about the new material, and we cannot wait for the release in early 2012. Further updates will appear regularly on this site, both in news as well as in a studio blog in which the bandmembers themselves will keep you up to date."

Doro's house destroyed by hurricane
2011-09-02
2011-09-02 01:00 - Rude shock for Doro Pesch. Yesterday morning the rock singer took the plane from Düsseldorf to her second home New York. When she arrived at her domicile on Long Island, instead of her neat house on the beach DORO only came upon a heap of ruins – the results of hurricane ”Irene” which had been raging over New York on last weekend and had brought big floodings to the east coast of the US.

”The damage is disastrous”, DORO states mournfully. ”The whole ground-floor was flooded. It stinks, electricity failed and everything’s wrecked inside of the house. From the TV to the fridge to the furniture. Everything’s grime-stained, defective, unusable.”

DORO continues: ”The worst thing is that pieces of my stage costumes and lots of my souvenirs and presents from fans from all around the world are lost forever now.”

Actually the rock queen wanted to prepare for her two live shows in New York and Chicago on Long Island calmly, which she’ll play next week over the course of her jubilee DVD’s release ”DORO – 25 Years in Rock”.

DORO: ”The shows will take place of course. For now, I’ve found accommodation in an hotel in New York and will have to see where things will go from here. I saw the pictures of ”Irene” on TV when I visited my mother in Germany on the weekend. When a red rubber raft appeared canoeing through a road on Long Island, I’ve already assumed the worst.”

And the fears were even surpassed. In spring, Doro Pesch had sat by the pier in front of her house to make use of the idyllic atmosphere for writing songs for her new album that will be released in 2012.

The Proselyte sign with TDB Records
2011-09-02
Playing around the Boston area for five years, The Proselyte have recently managed an enormous sonic overhaul for an upcoming TDB Records release. The band's sound has truly come into their own, offering riffy swagger, bomb-string heaviness and massive multi-layered vocal harmonies on the new LP. It's almost like Alice in Chains discovering the first two Baroness EP's, or maybe the Melvins covering the Beach Boys. They somehow manage to hit fresh, uncharted territory using familiar hallmarks of stoner metal, Seattle grunge and modern melodicism. The recording is warm, lush and as thunderous as the guitars will allow, but the crushing moments are woven through harmonious sun soaked vocal passages and used as a release, not a crutch. This could easily be the first sludge metal soundtrack for hitting the beach.

Entitled “Sunshine”, Proselyte's full length will be out Vinyl and Digital formats in October.

“Sunshine” was recorded at New Alliance in Cambridge, MA by drummer/vocalist, Alec Rodriguez and the band features guitarist/vocalist Nicholas Wolf from Phantom Glue. The line up is rounded out by Bradford J. Macomber on Bass and Mitchell C. Belch on Guitar/vocals.

For fans of: Torche, The Melvins, Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, Baroness.
