INNER TERROR (formerly Axemaster) has finished mixing and mastering their new CD "Behold the Inner Terror" and are just awaiting the final graphics before releasing the disc as a very limited edition self release (prior to speaking with companies about putting it out in larger numbers). The CD includes 12 tracks and features a sound that's a unique combination of traditional metal with a slightly modern feel. Definitely a must have for any metal fan!!!!

Serj Tankian announce nation wide screenings

Reprise Records and System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian have teamed up with theatrical distributor Cinema Purgatorio to present a series of nationwide screenings of Tankian’s Elect the Dead Symphony — a very special orchestral interpretation of Tankian’s critically acclaimed solo debut Elect the Dead. The dynamic one-off performance was recorded and filmed in HD by six cameras at the majestic Auckland Town Hall in New Zealand with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

The dramatic result has been captured in the Elect the Dead Symphony — a CD/DVD that will be released by Serjical Strike/Reprise Records on March 9th, 2010. Confirmed screening dates are below with more in the works. Many of the shows have been suggested by fans and are being organized in conjunction with the Armenian-American community, including the Armenian National Committee of America (anca.org). A pre-order for Elect the Dead Symphony has begun exclusively on iTunes. Fans who pre-order the audio album now for $11.99 will receive access to their download on February 23rd — two full weeks before the album is available in stores and from all digital service providers.

With the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra at his side, Tankian’s epic songs and operatic vocals on Elect the Dead Symphony take on a whole new sense of grandeur when performed by a full 70-piece orchestra, while the DVD’s sweeping edits showcase the drama of the concert. This unique meshing of two very different musical worlds was a vision Tankian has long wanted to make a reality. What sets Elect The Dead Symphony apart from other successful pairings between rock artists and orchestras is that Tankian specifically rearranged his songs to be performed with only orchestral instruments.

“I was elated to have the opportunity to arrange my songs from Elect the Dead for a full orchestra with the APO,” Tankian says. “The arrangements are quite different than those on the record, including bonus tracks never played live.” Both bonus tracks, “Gate 21” and “The Charade,” have never been released and are included on the CD, CD/DVD, and vinyl formats of Elect the Dead Symphony. The DVD also features rare and intimate backstage footage, as well as one-on-one interviews with Tankian and various members of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

The album contains elements of rock morphed into classical, and skewed time signatures that Tankian has made his own, all of which were scored by Tankian himself and orchestrated for the full ensemble by respected New Zealand composer John Psathas. The album has been mixed by Dutch musician Junkie XL, known for his remixes for such artists as Britney Spears, Beastie Boys, Coldplay, Michael Bublé, Madonna, Scissor Sisters, Sarah McLachlan, and many more.

Elect the Dead was released by Serjical Strike/Reprise Records on October 12th, 2007 and received glowing reviews from various media, including the Los Angeles Times, which called it "brutally engaging guitar-rock" with "steely lyricism and throttling textures," while Rolling Stone noted that it "delivers amped, intricate, and political hard rock."

Megadeth announce new tour dates

New York, NY: The mighty Megadeth will join forces with Testament and Exodus for a month-long jaunt that will find these thrash titans crisscrossing the nation on the ‘Rust in Peace’ 20th anniversary tour. These will be incredibly special shows that will delight Megadeth fans, as the band will be playing their landmark, genre-defining album, 1990’s Rust in Peace, in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth set list favorites.

Megadeth’s latest, ENDGAME, was released in September 2009 and received some of the highest critical accolades of the band’s career. The band performed on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and was nominated for yet another Grammy – the eight nomination of their storied career- for “Head Crusher.” Megadeth also enjoyed heaps of praise in the press, from outlets as varied as New York to Revolver to VH1’s “That Metal Show” to PopMatters. With ENDGAME, Megadeth have once again ascended to the top of the metal world.

The tour will kick off on March 1 in Spokane, WA and will run through the end of the month. The dates are as follows, with tickets going on sale this Friday, January 29.

Pelican to release LP

PELICAN's Southern Lord Recordings debut full-length What We All Come To Need - originally released in October - will be issued in double-LP format on February 23rd. The deluxe vinyl version bears a beautiful heavyweight gatefold jacket, and the fourth side of the release contains three bonus tracks not available on the CD version.

In celebration of the vinyl release of the album PELICAN will play a hometown show in Chicago on March 12th alongside Pinebender and Follows (ex-Russian Circles). This record release show will also be the sole location to purchase PELICAN's Ephemeral Bean Blend; the band's own limited edition collaboration with Intelligentsia Coffee of Chicago. The band states: "The richest, most complex flavors take patience and skill to craft and are over far too quickly. Textures part with singer

Singer Eric Kalsbeek has left TEXTURES to focus on his job and his family. He's issued the following statement:

"Dear fans & friends, I decided to quit Textures. My life changed, priorities shifted. I can't cope with the heavy touring and the time investment anymore. I need to focus on my job and family. I need to take a few steps back. I've had six beautiful years with the band, did loads of amazing shows, made tons of new friends and
created some mind-blowing music. I'm going to miss the guys, and of course you, the fans. I know TEXTURES will continue to conquer the world and give you all great, heavy and awesome music. I wish my successor all the best.
I will keep on making music, but something totally different, much more low-profile. Maybe we will meet again. Eric out"

Mustasch wins Swedish grammy

Mighty Swedish hard rock metal monsters MUSTASCH have just won their second Grammi award in the "Best Hard Rock" category! This is Sweden`s biggest music prize, and the award show took place January 15th in Stockholm.

Wyrd sign with Moribund Records

Today, MORIBUND RECORDS officially announces the signing of Finland's WYRD, one of the underground's preeminent pagan metal bands. Formed and fronted by erstwhile AZAGHAL guitarist Narqath, for the past decade WYRD have released eight full-length albums, each one more celebrated than the next, on a number of cult underground labels, including Avantgarde, Solistitium, Millenium Metal Music, Omvina, and Naga Productions.

Now, Narqath brings his muse and WYRD to MORIBUND RECORDS, and is currently working on the band's ninth full-length album, to be titled Death of the Sun - a release for the latter half of the year is tentatively planned. Narqath also intimates that plans are afoot for a professional promo video, and that mixing/mastering chores for Death of the Sun will likely be a high-profile metal producer. More info coming soon.

Melechesh announce first show of 2010

Sumerian black thrashers MELECHESH will perform at the infamous Baroeg club in Rotterdam, the Netherlands this Saturday, January 23. Doors open at 20.00 hrs.

The billing includes special guests INQUISITION from the USA and CTULU from Germany. This event will mark the first show for MELECHESH in 2010. The band announced to debut a new song (withouth vocals) during this event. Ashmedi and Co. are currently locked up in the rehearsal room finalizing the writing process for their new as of yet untitled album.

Brain Drill complete new album

Brain Drill has completed work on their follow up to 2008's tech death masterpiece, Apocalyptic Feasting. The band will again take fans on a mind-melting voyage through the boundaries of exactly how incredibly technical death metal can be. Quantum Catastrophe continues to push the band to their physical limits while somehow still exhibiting their trademark and infectious hook-laden riffs.

Guitarist Dylan Ruskin adds some insight into the musical process; “The album was definitely a huge accomplishment in the chronicling of the drill. The musical dynamics and skill level of everyone in the band have improved much more than the previous album. The songs are more technical and musically diverse but are also well balanced and catchy, including several bass breaks by Ivan Munguia and two songs written and recorded on guitar by him, entitled Awaiting Eminent Destruction and Mercy To None. Stay tuned for more.”

Quantum Catastrophe again features cover art by Par Olofsson (www.parolofsson.se). The over the top cover art (which will be released shortly) perfectly complements the nearly unbelievable musicianship present on the record. Fans can get a taste of what the new material is like, as well as new drummer Ron Casey, on a recently uploaded youtube video. In the video, Dylan and Ron play the new track, Monumental Failure. Vocalist Steve Rathjen explains the concept behind Quantum Catastrophe; “Universal decimation (black holes, galactic cosmic radiation), pandemic disease and zombie re-awakenings - mankind is entering an age of mass speculation as foreseen by numerous ancient cultures. Space to all humanity still primarily remains a mystery even in our days of immense technological advancements. We know this void is filled with infinite extremities which could occur at any instant; easily decimating all habitations. We also know our planet has fulfilled these mass extinctions time and again centuries in the past. The question which remains, are we due for another apocalyptic transition?”

Lita Ford teams up with porn star

After a 15-year hiatus from the world of rock music, Lita Ford released Wicked Wonderland last year. The sex-tinged lyrics mixed with dark, heavy music creates an album unlike anything Ford has offered in the past. After the great feedback got from some important shows in Italy with bands like Brutal Truth, Arch Enemy, All Shall Perish, Brujeria and Neaera, the Italian thrash-death metallers Living Corpse signed with Murdered Music for the release of their upcoming debut album entitled "Metaphisical Collapse", scheduled on February 8th 2010 and worldwide distributed via Coroner Records.

The album, which includes 10 tracks of pure thrash-death metal without compromises, was recorded at One Voice Studio by Daniele Giordana (sound tech for Hatebreed, Sick Of It All, Obituary, Suicidal Tendencies), and mixed/mastered by Ettore Rigotti at The Metal House Studio (Disarmonia Mundi, Slowmotion Apocalypse, Destrage, Stigma, etc...).

We feel very proud to announce that The Fallen Within is the final winner of E-rock.gr magazine's contest!

The video of the song "Sound Of Destruction", taken from the album "Intoxicated" and directed by Bob Katsionis, has been voted as the greatest Greek Rock & Metal video clip for 2009 among 11 amazing videos with 16.317 votes!!!

The band will be awarded on Saturday the 27th of February 2010 by the best Greek metal guitarist and one of the most famous guitarists worldwide: Gus G. (Ozzy Ozbourne, Firewind) at Jasmin Club in Athens! Be there!!!

"Intoxicated" was released on December 14th via Coroner Records.
