REVIEW: 10 Fold B-low - For Those Who Share The Sun Locomotive Music, 2005
3/10
10 Fold B-low - For Those Who Share The Sun - cover art The album starts off with a somewhat depressing acoustic track with rain pouring in the background. After this you reach the second song which is actually quite good (but a little too hardcore for me) for the first 2 minutes of the song, and then comes the fatal strike of the album, EMO VOCALS?????? I kid you not for the most part the songs in the album are a mix of Hardcore and Death/grind but in almost every song on the album they integrate emo/boy band vocals in with the growling, if I may ask WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? For all other intents and purposes this is a decent release that could have great potential, the death/grind aspect in particular is pretty good but because of one flaw this cd will lose the interest of almost any death metal fan in the first 3 minutes. Technically speaking the album has good production, and the band is for the most part competent with their instruments, and there is really nothing wrong with any of the instrumentation found within the album other than EXTREMELY poor vocal choice. In short this album has potential, mind you this potential is completely and irrevocably destroyed by putting emo/boy band vocals into an extreme metal cd, my one suggestion for the band if they read this is stick with Death/Grind, hardcore is overdone and emo is just plain terrible, you have potential if you ever care to realize it.
