REVIEW: 7th Nemesis - [promo cd] Self-financed, 2002
6.5/10
7th Nemesis - [promo cd] - cover art 7th Nemesis is a French band that rose from the ashes of the black / death metal project Sarganas. Today they are a band consisting of five musicians with a constant line-up since September of 2001. These three tracks actually remind me a lot of the Canadian blast masters Kataklysm but with a blacker edge and also some subtle 70's hard rock influences. All three songs are well executed and this is one of the most interesting new extreme metal bands from the French country that I've heard in a while. It is hard to get a grip of the band with only a few samples like this but they seem to be a band with lots of potential that could grow to become something special. This is like newer Dark Funeral meets Kataklysm or something like that and it sounds pretty good at times but they still need to work on the song writing a little if they want to join the big boys. There are several different styles of vocals on this cd, ranging from black to death but I'm not sure if it's the same person who does them all. Sometimes they are done very well while at other times they sound a little boring. France has some interesting newcomers on the scene and I hope that some of them will make it out on the European market in the future. 7th Nemesis are definitely capable of being one of them.
