Some months ago I reviewed Fire In The Head, something that won´t make history at all for many reasons. Sure the guy behind that project will have printed my review to use it as a kleenex (and I´m being diplomatic...). As you can imagine, I don´t give a For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. The same, in every aspect, could be applied to the review you´re reading now and the artist under the name of A Crown Of Light. I´ve put all my senses into trying to glimpse something valuable behind the collection of noises printed on this CD, and I can´t infere anything, except for the fact these sound would fit quite well in an eerie film. This is not music as we know. Fortunately there is music (this sounds quite strange in an album review...) in sparse passages like in “House Of Birds” but don´t mistake me, get back to reality: this album is about sounds intertwined mostly consisting of murmurs, synthetic winds (wow, what a weird couple of words...) and other unidentified noises. Sometimes, there are sudden short blanks inside the tracks. Unlike Fire In The Head, it´s not that annoying, disgusting, nor uncomfortable to the ear, except for loose moments like for example in the fifth track or the 20 minutes epic gibberish of “Crystal Sparrow”. “The Clearing” it´s simply dead boring and dull. Some variety of samples could have been used, but the sounds are quite similar in all the tracks and the basic body is more or less the same. This time around I can say noise ambient is not something for me, well, it depends on the concept of ambient you´re talking about. I always try to snatch at least a musical side, something quite hard to grasp in CDs like this. Enough for today!
