If you're a big fan of Swedish melodic death
metal then Ablaze My Sorrow is probably a band that you already know of. They
are one of the older acts from the country and formed on the west coast in
1993. "Anger, Hate And Fury" is the third album from the band and the first
to feature the new vocalist Kristian Lönnsjö who joined the band
after Martin Qvist had been kicked out of the band for the second time. The
last album from Ablaze My Sorrow was released back in 1998 and they have
certainly taken their time to write material for the follow-up but if you're
a big fan of the band I'm sure it was worth the wait because this album
contains high quality material. The songs are well composed, the band is
tighter than ever before and the new vocalist adds his own touch to the
mixture. This is definitely nothing for those of you who demand something new,
unique and groundbreaking but if you crave for some good old Swedish melodic
death then Ablaze My Sorrow is for you. Lots of anger and aggression, lots of
melody and a sharp production will certainly make melodic death-lovers embrace
this album as well. Unfortunately the production is a little sterile and
boring and the music in general is rather standardized, the drums in
particular. A few semi-silly samples are the most daring moves on this album
but Ablaze My Sorrow have despite this produced yet another good, solid album.
Stand-out tracks: "Erased / Relived",
"Paradies".
