After Feed-Back is a band from Barcelona, Spain, that was
formed in 1994. Back then they played mainly thrash metal influenced music but
with the addition of a DJ to the ranks the band became more of a modern
nu-metal band. The band has gained a lot of attention in their home country
and also on the Internet where they were ranked as the number one metal band
at the Spanish Vitaminic site within a week. They also reached number one in
the USA, number two in Holland etc. This was enough for Nu Metal Recordz
(subsidiary of German Crazy Life Music) to sign the band. I am not much of a
nu-metal fan in general and therefore not the right person to write this
review but I will still give it a try since I am sitting here with the cd.
When listening through these twelve tracks you realize almost immediately that
the thrash metal roots of the band are still evident with heavy riffs and At
The Gates vocals. The first three or four tracks are actually quite impressive
high quality music that sounds like a mix of Rage Against The Machine and
Machine Head but then the music slowly grows boring towards the end. The
intensity is kept up throughout the album though and I particularly enjoy the
vocals which are very well done, both the more aggressive ones and the clean
melodic singing. If you are weak for nu-metal with aggressive riffs and good
vocals I recommend you to check out this Spanish band, otherwise stay away
from it. The band would benefit from a stronger production which is perhaps
within their reach if they attract the interest of a major label. They do have
the potential for it and they are following the trends, so why
not...
