REVIEW: Airborn - Against The World Remedy Records, 2002
6.5/10
Airborn - Against The World - cover art To an ever growing mass of Italian power metal bands we can now add Airborn, a band from Turin that has been alive since 1996 and is now ready to release their debut album. Borrowing elements from the old heroes of their genre such as Heaven's Gate and Gamma Ray they will for sure make an impression on those who can't get enough of this type of music. Unfortunately there is very little new here and even though these guys are skilled musicians they sound very stereotypical. Many have tried to compete with Rhapsody throughout the years but very few have succeeded. Italian metal of today is for me Necrodeath, Rhapsody, Luca Turilli, Cadaveria and Thee Maldoror Kollective. "Against The World" is definitely not a bad album but it takes a lot more than this to make a lasting impression on me. The only thing that is worth mentioning apart from this is that the album was actually produced by Piet Sielck together with the band. He also did a guest appearance on vocals on the song "Wings".
