REVIEW: Alice Cooper - Dragontown Eagle Records, 2001
8/10
Alice Cooper - Dragontown - cover art Alice Cooper made a successfull return to the hard rock elite again with his last album "Brutal Planet" and you now have to get ready for his new opus "Dragontown". He may be old but he is one of the most important figures in the history of hard rock and without him people like Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie would not have become what they are. The possibilities to shock aren't as many as they used to be but Alice Cooper will still always be remembered the master of shock rock. According to him the people who don't find their way to heaven (who would want to be there?) end up in Dragontown. Some of these people are presented in different songs on this album like Jim Morrison of the Doors and John Lennon, two of Alice's old friends. Apparently he is not a big fan of Oprah as you may notice in "Fantasy Man". Since I grew up with the classic Alice Cooper hits in the 80's like "Poison" I have always been a fan of him. It also helped that his real first name is Vincent I guess... Alice Cooper is now back in the game again and if you're a fan of good old hard rock with that very special Alice Cooper touch you would not want to miss out on his latest achievement. If you listen closely to this album you also realize where King Diamond has found some of his inspiration.
