Fleshgrinding death metal in the Dying Fetus / Cannibal Corpse league, a slab of aggressive hardcore and occasional moments of Swedish melodeath worship. The result is All Shall Perish, a young quintet from California, USA, who have recently been picked up by the metal giant Nuclear Blast. The German label obviously realized the band's potential but this is actually a re-release of their 2003 album, originally unearthed by the Japanese Amputated Vein Records. Brutal music has always been the strength of Nuclear Blast and once again they show their good taste when dealing with this genre. Without resorting to plagiarism or generic song structures, All Shall Perish bring out the best of old-school American death metal, fronted by a guttural growler named Craig who is perhaps not the best I've hard but nonetheless a solid frontman. Perhaps All Shall Perish mix one too many influences to be able to appeal to a specific target group but I personally enjoy a fresh sounding band who, despite not actually offering us anything we haven't heard before, show a great deal of potential for the future. Basic traditional riffs but well thought out songs and a quality production. Few bands master the skill of being catchy and brutal at the same time but All Shall Perish is one of the lucky few.
