Everyone knows about the heavy metal band 3 Inches Of Blood now that they have been signed to Universal's partner Roadrunner Records I guess but did you also know that a couple of guys from the band have also been active in the black metal band Allfather? This is very different indeed. Fast, furious and violent, these Canadians perform 12 songs in less than 30 minutes. I am glad to see a band realizing the nature of their music and adjust the length of the songs so that they can leave out filler material which will only bore and annoy the listener. Allfather is a band that should receive a warm welcome from all fans of Angelcorpse as well as the Australian black metal scene. Raw and primitive black metal of high quality is unfortunately not very common today but "Weapon Of Ascension" is luckily an exception. Allfather never slow down, it is relentless aggression, crazy riffs and intense double bass drums from the opening second to the very end.
Few black metal bands can produce such a tight album as this one. The participating musicians possess both skills and talent and they have created a complex, chaotic and violent album full of energy, hate and a surrounding warlike atmosphere. Insert into your cd player and let the battles begin. You will not regret lending Allfather half an hour of your attention. A very impressive debut album.
