"110% Rock", the second album by the German trio Alternative Allstars, comes out four years after the debut "Rock On" (2000) and - as notable not just from its title, but also from the “lonely” Gibson and vox-amp on the front cover - offers pure, raw, heavy, dirty, straightforward contemporary rock'n'roll. This 2/3 hour of sound-traditionalism has been recorded during the last 2 years - much too long for such a product - and produced by the musicians themselves at their own Upstairs Studio. The credits go to bass player Mark Wiechert, ex-Thumb singing guitarist and professional skater Claus Grabke (by the way, this guy has been a German champion 19 [!!!] times), and three different drummers - current skinsman Sven Pollkoetter, Steffen Wilmking (ex-Thumb, now in the H-Blockx), and an Englishman called Gary Lincoln. Regarding the musical substance on "110% Rock", it's... well, not exactly 110, but maybe 95% jolly, vital rock'n'roll, as already mentioned some lines above. Luckily (or regretfully...?), every now and then there are some punk intrusions (like in the shoot-off single "Rubberball"), glam rock reminders (listen to "Take Me Higher", for example) and alternative curves ("I'm Free", "Emotions"). Another variety (and distraction) ensuring element are the guest appearances by vocalists Ingo Knollmann of Donots ("I Get Around") and Ron of 4Lyn ("Falling from Grace"); even the vocoder-distorted voice of Claus Grabke’s son Fynn is to be heard in "Totally Wrong". Briefly said, the Alternative Allstars have delivered a good mood loaded album suitable for fans of present-day rock'n'roll in the vein of Rose Tattoo, The Hellacopters, Gluecifer, etc., but definitely not a compulsory one...
