A band put together by the two brothers Rehn, Chris (Abyssos) and Tommy (Moahni Moahna) plus singer Sarah Jezebel Deva, well-known for her work in foremost Cradle Of Filth but also in Therion and Mortiis etc. This is the first time the two skilled musician siblings work together. And not only do they handle all the instruments, they have also produced this promo and I must say that the sound is great. It’s thick and clear and all the harmonies have their weighed share of space.
The five tracks on this disc handle out a great amount of symphonic metal harmonized by many melodies from keyboards and guitars in a smoothe pace. And on top of that you have Sarahs’ rich vocals embracing the whole piece. But I must say that the vocals are actually too full of feeling. The best song is the fourth one, “Deity Of Disgust” because there a male singer (Martin Häggström) enters and his voice fits better. I think he sounds a little bit like Virgin Steele vocalist, David DeFeis, but it is just awesome. And the orchestral parts are heavier on this track as well making it the most compact of their four songs and this promos’ five.
I don’t know the story behind it but the second song is actually a cover of a Kylie Minogue hit. I haven’t heard the original but this cover doesn’t really lights up my interest to go get it. A track they could have spared us. And it do also contain the most irritating vocals on the disc. Really annoying melodies that makes me skip the track while listening to it. But besides the inexplicable cover this promo is good. And Angtoria have a future I’m sure.
