Have you ever been a die hard fan of a band, only to feel betrayed by them? Metallica is one of the most noted for "selling out" as time went on. The band has recently tried to fix things, but have only made things worse. Unfortunately, Annihilator now seems to be suffering from the Metallica Syndrome.
"All For You" introduced another new vocalist, and newer, more groove orientated Annihilator, which fans either loved or burned (and I'm talking about illegal actions here). Annihilator soon redeemed themselves with "Schizo Deluxe", mixing classic with new. But, "Metal" is just a lie and a kick in the balls for the metal society. It's the farthest thing from Metal, period.
Each track has atleast one special guest appearance, and most of them are big name people such as Angela from Arch Enemy and Alexi from Children Of Bodom. But what's this? The track "Couple Suicide" features Angela, and another person! Danko Jones appears to help destroy this rather emo song completely by adding his emo vocals to the mix. And what's worse is that the songs are all terrible! Each one is rather slow, pretty much borderline metal, and most of them are obviously sell-out, metal radio friendly tracks. The solos are crap, the vocals are horrid, and the album is just pure blasphemy.
There are maybe a few songs that fans will enjoy and call the saving graces of the album, such as "Downright Dominate", and a few moments here and there where Annihilator seems to throw a brief kick ass moment to mock their fans. It's obvious even the label realizes how bad it is due to the last minute introduction of a limited edition version that includes a bonus best of CD, which is honestly the only good thing about this release. This album either should never have been made, or atleast kept away from the public. Annihilator has officially sold out with this release...
