REVIEW: Anorexia Nervosa - Redemption Process Listenable Records, 2004
9/10
Anorexia Nervosa - Redemption Process - cover art Anorexia Nervosa is one of those bands which develop with every single album and their latest album, Redemption Process, is their best release to date. Anorexia Nervosa by this album has established itself in the melodic black metal genre. although keyboards are used in all the seven tracks of this album, the final outcome is quite different from similar melodic bands such as Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth. Listening to this album for a black metal fan is like taking a trip with the storm over the unknown lands. All through the album, harsh vocals are entwined with clean vocals which mainly sing the French parts. French language for its elegance and refinement seems the most unfit language in the world for black metal vocalists, but after listening to this band and Seth, one can see that this noble language has some unforeseen abilities for the rasps of black metal vocalists. The drummer of this album has had a brilliant performance and as soon as drums enter, they lull the other instruments under their extraordinary influence. In addition to drums, the choir parts have been finely integrated into the tracks in which they are used. Sacrament is a good example of the give and take that the typical black metal vocals and choirs can have. All in all, this album is an unforgettable jewel from the French scene. Highly recommended. Favorite tracks: The Shining, Sister September, Amen.
