REVIEW: Anthrax - Sound Of White Noise Elektra Records, 1993
6.5/10
Anthrax - Sound Of White Noise - cover art Many with me hold Anthrax as one of the best and most important bands in the history of metal and they have done some of the most amazing songs in the past. At this point in their career they were a band in transition, having left their old label Megaforce for a more prosperous deal with Elektra, also home of their comrades in crime Metallica. They had also replaced their long-time vocalist Joey Belladonna with former Armored Saint vocalist John Bush. Unfortunately the changes show on this album because this is not the Anthrax I know from their previous releases. Belladonna had always been part of the Anthrax sound but that's not the biggest problem. The song writing seems to have gone down the drain because there are not really one single memorable song on "Sound Of White Noise" except maybe for the buzzing intro which you probably will remember even though that's not actual music. It is not bad at all but when we're dealing with a band like Anthrax you would expect something more impressing than this. If this was just any other band I would not be disappointed. John Bush is doing his job fairly well behind the microphone and he does indeed have a very strong voice but he has done better with his old band. One of the worst albums the band have produced.
