REVIEW: Apocalyptica - Faraway Vol. 2 (CDs) Motor Music, 2003
6.5/10
Apocalyptica - Faraway Vol. 2 (CDs) - cover art The musical wonder known as Apocalyptica made a big name for themselves when they started playing Metallica songs on cello, something that had not really been done before, at least not seriously. Now that they have gained the attention of major labels there are of course singles thrown all around them, featuring him or her. I fully respect what Apocalyptica are doing and I actually think that they are one of the most intense musical experiences that are offered today but I see no point in a release like this. This single features two versions of their song "Faraway", the first one with Linda Sundblad from the Swedish pop / rock band Lambretta on vocals and the second being completely instrumental. I have never been a big fan of Lambretta, mostly because of the fact that Linda both sounds and acts like a little girl. On this song she sounds a little better than she usually does, in fact her way of singing here reminds me of Candice Night of Blackmore's Night although she is a few levels below her standards. It is not really a bad song but it is not something to get really excited about either. A decent listening experience but it is a single and by now you all know how I feel about singles.
