REVIEW: Arcadia - Cold Cold Bodies Valery Records, 2007
5/10
Arcadia - Cold Cold Bodies - cover art Arcadia - Someone seems to head for spreading chaos in the tradition of "good old new metal" of the late 90's; featuring typical elements like children's vocals, raps, spoken voice samples, percussion sounds, screams and melodic vocals. While listening to the album, some bands appear immediately in front of the listeners' inner eye: Slipknot, Korn, 36 Crazyfists, Deftones.

The breaks, screams, and psychotic vocals with a mixture of rap and singing in songs like "She's Got a Knife" remind one very much of Slipknot songs from the Iowa-period. The ever present snare drum maybe is thought to sound a bit like percussions. While the melodic singing rather invites associations with 36 Crazyfists or Deftones. Also the sound mix of the album is a bit confusing. The album can be recommended to die-hard fans of the genre, but for everyone else, I would probably say that the band is lacking originality.
