REVIEW: Archaean Harmony - Nihility Mundane Soul (EP) Solemn Music, 2000
5.5/10
Archaean Harmony - Nihility Mundane Soul (EP) - cover art Archaean Harmony is a black metal band from Malta, formed back in 1995. The band now consists of three permanent members and this album consists of older material from them. They are now working on new songs to make for a full-length album and hopefully we will see a much more mature sound then. The band has approached black metal in a very unconventional way with a progressive sound similar to the Italian band Ephel Duath and complex orchestration that creates a very avant-garde atmosphere. Unfortunately this is a little too experimentive and chaotic for me and I´m glad that the band has declared a new direction with a more compact song structure for the new material. If it weren´t for the sometimes annoying vocals and the extremely experimental sound Archaean Harmony might be a band I could get into because there are some highlights on this MCD worth remembering. The album was recorded and mixed at Temple Studios 15-18 July 1999 by David Vella. To learn more about the band go visit their website.
