REVIEW: Arise From Thorns - Before An Audience Of Stars Dark Symphonies, 2001
8/10
Arise From Thorns - Before An Audience Of Stars - cover art Emotional melodies, acoustic guitars, occational heavy riffs and beautiful serene female vocals are what you will have the pleasure to enjoy if you are one of the lucky owners of this album from the American dark progrock band Arise From Thorns. I know that this isn´t really metal but just like several other bands on the Dark Symphonies label their music is very atmospheric and dark and should also appeal to a lot of metal fans out there. If you´re only into music that´s aggressive and fast then this will not be something for you but I don´t think it´s healthy to be that narrow-minded (not just when it comes to music). I encourage you to open your mind and let the emotional landscapes of Arise From Thorns slip through your ears and enter the deep confines of your brain. There are some very sad and melancholic tunes coming your way but they are still highly enjoyable. You will not look upon the world the same way as before after having heard this album. The music on this release is alive and passionate and probably suited to be performed before an audience of stars. Be brave, go check it out! Note that Arise From Thorns has now changed their name into Brave.
