REVIEW: Arkhon Infaustus - Perdition Insanabilis Osmose Productions, 2004
7/10
Arkhon Infaustus - Perdition Insanabilis - cover art Extreme lyrics, a tasteful black and white cover, never-ending pounding drums, unearthly ultra-guttural vocals and black-ish screams. That is Arkhon Infaustus in a nutshell, the French band who now returns with their third full-length album thus far. "Perdition Insanabilis" is a worthy successor to "Filth Catalyst" which was praised by many fans of extreme metal in general, whether be it death or black metal. This is a band who crosses borders and are not afraid of doing so, this without compromising any of their brutality and the extreme nature of their music. Arkhon Infaustus do not surrender to anyone and today they easily stand out as one of the most sofisticated extreme metal acts around. Modern black metal terror has been given a new face through albums like "Hell Injection", "Filth Catalyst" and now "Perdition Insanabilis". Lyrically they certainly make an impression on me but musically I still feel that Arkhon Infaustus need to distinguish themselves even further from the rest of the bands in the genre in order to step up towards the black throne. A good and healthy addition to a serious black metal collection. No cd of the year but a nice mix of grinding death metal and extreme black metal.
