Next up is a 2-song promo from the forthcoming album "Daemonolatria Hypnotica" by Italian black metal band Ars Macabra. Ars Macabra play a fast black metal similar to Dark Funeral, Tsjuder, Marduk, et al. Both songs are blisteringly fast, well produced, with good guitars throughout. However, there is a drum machine that is blatantly obvious, replacing a member that left the band, apparently, in 2003. The promo material that came with the CD indicates that Ars Macabra is looking to incorporate an electronic influence into their music, but this is probably not the way of going about it. At any rate, the two songs presented on this CD are promising and if fast black metal is what you’re looking for, then Ars Macabra will probably satisfy. I look forward to hearing the rest of the CD, preferably with a human drummer.
