REVIEW: As We Fight - Black Nails And Bloody Wrists Dockyard 1, 2005
8/10
As We Fight - Black Nails And Bloody Wrists - cover art The Danish sextet As We Fight blends Scandinavian metal and hardcore with American hardcore. The result is an aggressive metalcore with the roots deep in both black metal and melodic death metal. “Black nails and bloody wrists" is their debut full-length and the album was originally released on Good Life Recordings in 2004 and then re-released on Dockyard 1 in June 2005. The opening track is a kick in the head with its violent and intense sound and the title track is even better. There is not a single non-aggressive moment on “Black nails and bloody wrists" and it is surely not a record to relax to. As a matter of fact it is hard to even sit still at all listening to it. Contributing to As We Fight's distinctive character is partly the dual vocalist that helps to keep it intense and interesting. Also all members in the band are really good musicians and I must especially compliment the drummer who is superb. “Black nails and bloody wrists" is a great debut and I recommend you check out As We Fight because they have the potential to go all the way in the future.
