In this ocean of music we se everyday I need to be convinced to buy an album. It’s not enough that the album is okay, you have to impress me. You have to have something that will make me want to listen to your album constantly. There are very few albums that have those qualities. Unfortunately Aurora Borealis second album “Time Unveiled” lacks that special “it” that is so important. It’s a strong album, if you like lots of blast and fast music, but I lack the emotion. I want to feel the rage. I want the album to make me snap, go crazy and fuck something up! Though Aurora Borealis features members from Nile (which I like), Malevolent Creation and Hate Eternal it sounds like a lot of other albums in the black/death metal jungle. Never the less there is one song that stuck on me; “Sky burial”. It has a certain groove I like. It starts with a very melodic riff that soon turns into chaos. I like the contrast and the surprise that comes with it. Otherwise this album is very common. It just keeps on feeding you blasts until you can’t have anymore. Now, I like my metal with a good dose of experimenting. This doesn’t have that. But I’m sure that it appeals to loads of people who are not interested in groovy music, who just like that blastbeat to keep on coming. To those this is the perfect album. To me, this is boring. But I’m not going to be a bitch. I am going to give this album the grade it deserves, even if I yawn every other minute. You can’t like everything and this album provides exactly what the band wants to provide; vicious and fast death/black.
