REVIEW: Autumn Clan - Requiem To The Sun Wait And Bleed Records, 2002
8/10
Autumn Clan - Requiem To The Sun - cover art The best one dies young....... and sometimes great and promising bands split much too early. One of these bands is the meanwhile dissolved Austrian underground band Autumn Clan, that managed to kick lots of asses at their live concerts (where they sound much heavier than on their cd release, by the way), and they impressed me too when I saw them live on stage with Austria's one and only opera metal band Nosgoth. Midtempo, dark, melancholic, heavy with some kind of spacy and psychedelic touches here and there and good old gothic feeling mixed with atmospheric rock in the best sense. No sweetish keyboards, no female voice, just a trip into dark purity. This is what listeners awaits on "Requiem to the sun", the first and last full release (after two demos) of the band. Vocalist Jens Hermann is a charismatic and talented singer and fits very well to the dark and modern songs, Autumn Clan has created. Jens Hermann´s voice changes from calm to rock/metal style. Standout tracks: "New gothicism", "requiem to the sun", "hate tunes", "symphony of sadness".
