REVIEW: Autumn Tears - Promotional Sampler Compilation Dark Symphonies, 2000
9/10
Autumn Tears - Promotional Sampler Compilation - cover art This compilation from the American band Autumn Tears was issued only for promotional purposes and features tracks from each of their four releases so far (3 full-length albums and one MCD). Autumn Tears is not really a metal band but their music is full of dark and emotional touches that most metal fans will probably fancy as well (at least I do). The band consists of one male and two female members and since the vocals are the most important part of their music all of them are using their voices to bring out the best of sadness and melancholy. The beautiful and often enchanting vocals are accompanied by poetical lyrics and dark orchestral keyboards as well as nice piano melodies. There are only classical vocals on their albums, sometimes also spoken words and with a slightly medieval touch. Altogether this makes Autumn Tears one of the most interesting darkwave acts ever and one of the few really good ones today. They have also managed to create on of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard namely "The Dance". If you haven´t yet had the pleasure to enjoy any of the dark symphonies from Autumn Tears I encourage you to check them out because they clearly one of the most underrated bands out there. Let us all join hands and ascend towards the black skies above our darkened earthly souls.
