REVIEW: Autumnblaze - Mute Boy Sad Girl Prophecy Productions, 2002
5/10
Autumnblaze - Mute Boy Sad Girl - cover art Autumnblaze is a two man band from Germany featuring Markus B. and Schwadorf. They released their debut album "Dämmerelbentragödie" in 1999 followed by 2000's "Bleak" and now they are here with their third full-length album. There is nothing wrong about this band really, it's just that this is an album that will pass me by without any remembrance of it. The music is, well..., bleak and the vocals sound like every Swedish wailing pop vocalist of today. There are good moments though when the band sounds like a mix of a melancholic version of Smashing Pumpkins and newer Katatonia but those moments are rare and unfortunately very short. If you are looking for a melancholic, bleak pop music experience with a few minor metallic outbursts you might want to check out Autumn Blaze but I don't find them very interesting myself. The music is fairly enjoyable as a streaming background but I would never put this cd on if I wanted to enjoy the music first of all. Prophecy Productions do have a lot of good unique bands on their label but this is not one of them.
