REVIEW: Axis Of Advance - Obey Osmose Productions, 2004
9/10
Axis Of Advance - Obey - cover art Being Canadian myself I would have thought that I’d know about this band. Strangely enough I was surprised when reading that they were from my own country. Axis of Advance is furious grinding metal with death/black metal running through their veins. The drummer is amazing, completely annihilating his kit, thrashing out the most inspired drumming I’ve heard in a long time. This is a band to check out if you’re looking for devastating evil metal. From the start of “Obey” you are violently attacked. This band is ready for war, and the drummer solidifies this with his blasting, almost sounding like a drummer at war with the listener. His control must have been taught through the military, because his chops sound so precise. Being a three piece, Axis of Advance has recorded an album that sounds like fucking ten people were involved. The demonic vocals are a perfect match for the crazed guitar sound. If you haven’t heard this band, and are looking for brutal uncompromising metal with manic song writing, then do yourself a favour, get Obey. Also a band to check out if you’re into the vile black metal!!
