REVIEW: B-Code - Without Colour Self-financed, 2003
5.5/10
B-Code - Without Colour - cover art Inspired by everything from hard rock to grunge, from stoner rock to metal, this Lazio based band set out to conquer the world in the year 2002. The result of all these diverse musical influences is apparently some form of nu-metal. For some reason unknown to me I have reviewed lots and lots of Italian bands recently which is interesting because you realize that there is very much going in that country at the moment. I am not a huge fan of the nu-metal genre in general but I admit that I like some bands. B-Code is however not a pure nu-metal act. Sure, they have a lot in common with many modern bands but there are also some obvious grunge influences shown here that remind me of Pearl Jam in particular. "Without Colour" is a decent demo but unfortunately it leaves no traces behind. The production is professional thanks to the tracks being recorded at the Temple Of Noise studio in Rome but I fail to find anything in these four songs to remember B-Code by. They are too conventional and without a personal sound of their own. This probably mostly depends on that they are still a very young band and we'll have to wait and see what the future brings.
