REVIEW: Bad Religion - The Process Of Belief Epitaph Records, 2002
8.5/10
Bad Religion - The Process Of Belief - cover art For years Bad Religion has been the flag ship of punk rock and there is still no other band like them out there. After line-up and abuse problems they are now back again, stronger than ever, with their new album "The Process Of Belief". One reason why I rarely touch punk music albums is because almost every single release can be described in one word as "f**k the police, the fascist state and everything else" but Bad Religion is luckily in a place beyond all this. Of course they are free to write any lyrics they want but in the end it gets very boring with the same thing over and over again. Instead their lyrics show that they care and want to change things instead of seek and destroy. "Kyoto Now" is a fine example of this. The music of this album is dynamic, melodic and alive but what stands out most is the amazing vocal lines. If you want to buy just one album outside the metal genre this is a good choice. The vocalists of punk rock bands don't usually know how to sing (or maybe I should say that they don't have a voice carved out for singing) but Bad Religion is definitely an exception.
