REVIEW: Balance Of Power - Perfect Balance Nightmare Records, 2001
8/10
Balance Of Power - Perfect Balance - cover art The last album from the British band Balance Of Power was chosen as album of the month in the renowned German metal magazine Rock Hard and now they have returned with a new prog-power masterpiece. What struck me when I started listening to this album was the wonderful voice of the vocalist Lance King who has the tendency of varying his voice a lot which is a good thing. It is very rare to hear good progressive metal albums these days, probably since this kind of music requires a huge amount of talent if it is to sound any good. Talent is something these guys are in possession of and I have to say that this is a highly listenable record indeed. If it wasn't for the beautiful vocals from King it would still be a very good album because the songs are filled with beautiful melodic metal. I would not want to compare this with Dream Theater or Queensryche at their best but now you probably get the picture of what this sounds like. Once again: the vocals are impressing as few.
