REVIEW: Beheaded - Recounts Of Disembodiment Mighty Music, 2002
6.5/10
Beheaded - Recounts Of Disembodiment - cover art As metal is finally starting to rise for real in Denmark as well there are also a number of labels spreading the sound of real music (that is metal...). One of the leading Danish labels is Mighty Music who have now signed Beheaded, the first death metal band on Malta (an island state in the Meditarranean for those who don't know). The band was formed already in 1991 and they have released two demos, one mini-CD and one full-length album until now. The new album, "Recounts Of Disembodiment", continues in the technical vein but the band is moving very far into the American brutal sound that was laid down by bands like Suffocation, Deicide and Dying Fetus. The music of these Maltese guys is very technical and fast with lots of pounding drums and guttural vocals. This is a good solid death metal release but it fails to be original in any way. There is nothing wrong with this though since very few bands manage to create something unique these days when almost everything has been done before. Beheaded is one of the most American of the European death metal bands and if you are into these bands you might want to check out the new release from these deathsters.
