REVIEW: Behemoth - Conjuration Regain Records, 2003
7/10
Behemoth - Conjuration - cover art Maybe at the beginning I confess that I'm not big fan of the last Behemoth album "Zos Kia Kultus". And here is some kind of supplement to this album. So let's go with it... The studio recordings were laid down during the "Zos Kia Cultus" sessions. "Conjuration Of Sleep Daemons", the only new original cut on the album, is standard Behemoth as we've come to know from this album - hard and brutal death metal. For those who like "Zos..." it could be another good track. A cover of Nine Inch Nail's "Wish" is included too. No, don't look at it with big eyes, Behemoth have not started to play industrial, this track was turned into a Behemoth song and it's ok. Next, a cover of Venom's "Welcome To Hell" is offered and it's simply good standard. After these three studio songs there are four live tracks taken from a 2001 live performance at the Mystic Festival in Poland. Here Behemoth show their own class, the quality of these tracks is really good, we have even come back to the band's early days (cult hymn "From The Pagan Wastelands"). I think that all the Behemoth maniacs will be satisfied with this EP. This is definitely for them.
