REVIEW: Belphegor - Infernal Live Orgasm Phallelujah Productions, 2002
7.5/10
Belphegor - Infernal Live Orgasm - cover art The Austrian Belphegor is one of the most successful extreme black metal bands of Europe and now they have parted ways with their old label Last Episode to release their 10 year anniversary album through their own newly founded label Phallelujah Productions. This album contains eight live tracks performed with a ferocious intensity that makes their studio recordings seem a little pale in comparison. There are also two newly recorded tracks called "Swarm Of Rats" and "Der Untergang Pt. II" + two tracks from their two demos from 1991 and 1992. Also included is two video clips that should definitely be of interest to fans of the band. Belphegor has never been one of my favorite bands but the live tracks on this album really made me like them more. If there still is an underground black metal scene than Belphegor is without a doubt one of the leading bands of it. Austria has always been a strong black metal country and I just hope that there will be more good bands coming forth now that the old ones are beginning to get..., well, old... This is raw, fast, energetic and brutal black metal at a very high level. Sometimes they even remind you of what Cradle Of Filth used to sound like six or seven years ago.
