REVIEW: Benediction - Organized Chaos Nuclear Blast, 2001
9/10
Benediction - Organized Chaos - cover art Benediction will always be remembered as the band where Barney Greenway was introduced to the metal world before he left for Napalm Death. Since then the death metal pride of Birmingham, UK, has developed into one of the leading acts in the European scene with six full-length albums and two MCD's behind them. The new album is perhaps the best one so far and it shows a band with more than ten years of metal experience. Almost every single second of the music is perfect - the riffs are powerful, the production is superb and the new vocalist Dave Hunt proves to be a great asset to the band. It has been three years since the previous release "Grind Bastard" but when the result is as astonishingly brilliant as "Organized Chaos" is then you would be willing to wait another year or two. Even though Benediction is a rather brutal death metal act these guys are still capable of writing more emotional and melodic songs as shown on "Easy Way To Die", one of the best tracks of this album. Fans of the band will not have to worry though because there is lots of speed, brutality and killer riffs on the rest of the songs.
