REVIEW: Bestial Mockery - Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw Metal Blood Music, 2002
6.5/10
Bestial Mockery - Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw - cover art The Swedish band Bestial Mockery have taken it upon them to re-introduce the metal world to the sounds of hell, war, death, leather and spikes. They have done a pretty good job since they started out in 1995 and are now ready to unleash their official cd debut in the form of "Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw". Not a very friendly title but the music of Bestial Mockery is also far from friendly. Except for adding a few chainsaw samples on a couple of tracks, which seems rather lame, these ten tracks are very enjoyable and reasonably well produced. While Bestial Mockery are definitely playing black metal they seem to have been inspired more by old Destruction and Sodom than Darkthrone, Mayhem or Immortal. The resulting sound is somewhat harsh but still catchy black metal that should please all fans of brutal music in general. On one hand this is not new groundbreaking masterpiece but on the other hand Bestial Mockery are more than your average run of the mill band. If you are the carrier of a black uneasy soul you might want to give them a chance because they are good at what they do.
