REVIEW: Beyond Twilight - For The Love Of Art And The Making Massacre Records, 2006
8.5/10
Beyond Twilight - For The Love Of Art And The Making - cover art With “For the Love of art and the Making” Beyond Twilight deliver their third full-length album. Yet this is no ordinary album. The music on this CD consists solely of one giant composition featuring 43 different sections. With an average running time of less than one minute a song, one could expect a lot of variety and that is indeed one of the main elements in this composition. As Beyond Twilight say themselves, this album can be interpreted in many different ways, and whether you listen to it the normal way or set it on shuffle determines the meaning of this album to you. Coming back to the musical aspect of this album. It’s a mixture of many different progressive elements, and at some points it reminds me a lot of Rage’s last album “Speak of the Dead” because it contains so many different sections in one actual song, there’s a part for everyone, the only downside of that is, that some parts might be very boring for one to listen to. I reckon almost everyone who’s but a bit into prog/heavy metal will appreciate this album, at least the concept. Whether any part of this album will be played live is still a mystery to me, I wouldn’t mind having this album played to me as a whole.
