REVIEW: Black Funeral - Waters Of Weeping Behemoth Productions, 2007
2/10
Black Funeral - Waters Of Weeping - cover art Black Funeral is another one of those raw black metal bands to surface. Their latest full length, Waters Of Weeping, holds every raw black metal element, which is quickly growing to just be poor sound recording quality and echoing vocals. Unfortunately, this release is just that.

Except maybe a little worse. If you're able to trudge on past the first two songs without needing some form of migraine medication, it'll be a remarkable thing. "Intro - Qemetiel And Belia'al" is possibly the most irritating intro ever, just being random nearly two minutes of random sound effects to try to simulate a haunting, possibly hellish sound. While it is hellish to your brain, the next track "Nehemoth" is just eight minute to long and is extremely drawn out.

The album does have some moments that aren't bad. If you can actually look past the bad recording quality and the many annoying tracks, this CD does offer a few entertaining tracks. Those tracks happen to be some of the shorter ones, like "Sh'arimrath, The Eighth Hell" and "Devourers Of Spirit". And if you like vocal distortion, you're in luck with the track "Harab Serapel". Yep, the CD has pretty much everything raw, kvlt black metal is anymore, from annoying guitar distrortion, to simple riffs, mediocre/talentless drum work, and the same vocal style through the whole thing with no real originality. Oh, and of course the presence of Satan with hard to decipher lyrics.

If you happen to pick up this CD and aren't "kvlt" enough (and yes, it is spelled with a "v" around this neck of the woods), then don't forget to pick up some kind of headache pill, or form of alcohol, or hell even both. Just be careful you don't swallow them all for wasting money on this release. While there are a few good tracks, the album is pretty much unlistenable, undecipherable, and practically unbarable. The only real use this CD can provide is the ability to blast it Saturday morning and piss off that rap fan next door. Satan has to be ashamed of this album, even though it is dedicated to him and his lackies. And now a new quest begins to find the Ibuprofen...
