REVIEW: Black Steel - Relentless Force Self-financed, 2004
5.5/10
Black Steel - Relentless Force - cover art Quick hit: Competently played "Battle Metal" in that Manowar style which necessarily borrows liberally from the canon of mid-era Judas Priest and mid-era Iron Maiden. The title track on this (very) mini-EP sounds so very much like mid-80s Metal but with perhaps superior production. If you like the bands name dropped earlier, this may very well be for you. It is all rather well done, if none too original. The Thin Lizzy cover offers virtually nothing that the original didn't have and the same can be said about the Saxon cover. The band has more recorded output so check 'em out online if this sounds appealing to you. In a few words: unoriginal and not very inspired, though not quite uninspired.
