With their first full-length attack, Blacklodge attempts to spread their Satanic message with chaotic Industrial (drug) black metal. The music is certainly more metal in form, especially in the beginning when the slightly above average riffing is most evident. Though at one point, one of the band members must have pointed out that more electronica needed to be incorporated in order for Blacklodge to live up to the “Industrial” part of their genre-title. Assumingly as a result, more drum machines and related can be heard as the album progresses. In order to achieve this, a knob is turned in the “marching band” setting, or what have you, of the electronic device in question to just under that maximum BPM level, and the fill-in button is pressed when variation is desired. This static noise is too much for my ears at this time of night, though despite the time and conditions in which I listen to such music, I can hardly say anything good about their paella of amateurishness. Track eight is a relief as the nonsense stops for a few minutes. This is soon followed by “An Error in Darkness”, perhaps a song about themselves. It contains a few worthy riffs, though that is spoiled by the overused lyrical content: “Satan!!!” “T.A.O.S. (The Arrival of Satan)” is a pretty good dancetrack and the final number, “W.Y.N.F.S. (Whiten Your Nose For (you guessed it) Satan)” proves that Saint Vincent is incapable of correctly pronouncing the name of his beloved god.
