REVIEW: Blessed By A Broken Heart - Pedal to the Metal Century Media, 2008
3/10
Blessed By A Broken Heart - Pedal to the Metal - cover art My Mom always said If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Blessed By A Broken Heart are not quite the worst band I have ever heard, but they are close.

From a musicianship standpoint, they're pretty good. From a visionary standpoint, however, they're a mess. They began as a straightforward metalcore band but somewhere decided to incorporate elements of hair metal into the mix... shred guitar and keyboards. And in theory this sounds like it could be quite cool. I assure you it is quite not!

The sound on Pedal To The Metal is a literal hodge podge. It's Sevendust-styled nu-metal with careeening, shredding guitar wilding away all over the place. Screamed, hardcore-ish vox and keys so out of place they seem to have been added like a cherry on top of a sundae - it's an eyesore for the ears. Give them points for attempting to create the new genre of "hair metalcore." ...But subtract a few for failing.
