REVIEW: Blind Guardian - Battalions Of Fear No Remorse Records, 1988
10/10
Blind Guardian - Battalions Of Fear - cover art The amazing debut album from Blind Guardian is one of the best debut releases in the history of metal. Most of the songs on the album are taken from the demos made when they were still known as Lucifer´s Heritage but there are a couple of new songs as well. The new versions are faster and cleaner than on the demos and show a band made up of extremely talented musicians. Fine vocals by Hansi Kürsch, fast melodic speed metal with the best of guitar riffs. This is a band who really knows how to make good music. Definitely one of the milestones in the metal history. The first Blind Guardian albums on No Remorse were later re-released in 1991 by their new label Virgin. Even though this is the first label release from this band it is one of the highlights of the German metal scene ever since. Speed and melody are the trademarks of Blind Guardian and there is plenty of both to be enjoyed here. Propably the best debut album ever made!
