REVIEW: Bloodbound - Nosferatu Metal Heaven, 2006
6.5/10
Bloodbound - Nosferatu - cover art If you are an avid downloader or live in Japan chances are you have already heard the debut album from Sweden's Bloodbound. Avalon Marquee released it in Japan already in mid December last year but now the rest of the world are able to enjoy their work as well thanks to the AOR Heaven subsidiary Metal Heaven. Immediately when the opening track "Behind The Moon" leave the speakers the lead guitars inevitably bring memories of classic Iron Maiden to mind. Despite ample musicians and decent song writing the music step by step fades as it fails to keep the listener's attention in a firm grip throughout the entire duration of the album. Perhaps it would have been wise to shorten it down slightly in order to focus on the strongest parts of each song. The overall impression becomes rather anonymous with two exceptions - the vocals from former Tad Morose frontman Urban Breed who never lets anyone down and the magnificent title track which is a true hit song where every positive element of Bloodbound join forces in one mighty discharge. If Bloodbound would have been around several years back they could perhaps have stolen the thunder of fellow Swedens Dream Evil but while Dream Evil is still a one album wonder to me I hope this band will work in the opposite direction. After all, the future always lies ahead of us. A decent album with strong vocals but an all too early anticlimax.
